I find talking about drink problems unhelpful for me, except with my psychiatrist, he seems to get it. So my small message is that get proper professional help that suits you with someone who allows you to find your own path..For me, people who have too prescriptive in their recommendations didn't do me any good, my psych let me find my own way, while still calling me on my bullshit.

Believe me, I've tried everything, but I think that I am finally on top of it, thanks to my own iterative attempts and patience by my psych (who was free BTW, on NHS UK).

So true EOTL, i have also found i needed to find the right mix of help to overcome this. Thats a huge reason why i love this site. The people here know the goal is to quit (or for a few who can handle it, to mod) and however you get there is up to you. There are meds, AA, smart recovery, IOP therapy, counseling, cold turkey....and/or a combo of these and other things.

I agree with you, Red. I feel that MWO offers great options for all kinds of situations. I find the resources here invaluable as I believe many others do.
I too am very happy for each person who finds freedom from this addiction no matter what works best for them. For me, it will be a combination of factors, many of which are supported by this program.

Cheers guys, believe me it took me long enough of trying. I can't help but feel that it needn't have taken that long! I'll not say how long, just in case it discourages newcomers... however, that being said some people quit on their first attempt, some on their thousandth
