    how good does it work?

I have read the introduction and the first chapter of the book.

The turnaround seems too good to be true! The writer and friend have dramatic results after one day on the program, using all the components.

Do any of you have the same remarkable story? I do not have money to waste, (done that before).

Let me know what you have done and has it been so clearly an improvement to your life.

    how good does it work?

Rocky, I have no idea how it works - I just received my book today and am embarking on my own journey.

I can say that I am inspired by the stories that I have read in these postings, as well as by the support that all the members have to offer. I've reached the point in my life where I want to live up to my potential as a human being, and not feel like I need to reach for the bottle every time the weekend rolls around.

I plan on reading the book cover from cover, and going from there. What's around the corner? Who knows, but I'm about to find out.....

    Best of luck,

Rocky - you are doing wonderfully. And it is perfectly normal to have doubts about any type of program. The best advice I can give you right now, is that you won't know until you try. You never know, maybe the MWO program is your cup of tea? For some it is AA and for others it could be a number of different programs.... we are all different. But we don't know until we try it.

Just give it a shot, my friend! Seeing you have the book, read it first. If you feel you need more, like the supplements then order them when you are financially able to. In the meantime I would suggest eating well and often. This will help your body in the recovery process, and will dampen the urge to drink. Best of luck!

AAthlete - you have come to supportive place! I wouldn't of been able to get this far (13 days) without either being 'pregnant' LOL or through the support of these boards! Welcome!

          Hi Rocky,

I made an excellent start just with the book, my motivation without anything else kept me going. Like you, the stories helped me along.

          All the best, Paula :h :l :h

            Rocky,
I havent even read the book, but I have listened to what people have said about the wholistic approach that RJ works. For me, I'm someone who is very averse to product marketing and while I think RJ does not over do this in any way.. and I go for the process.

I've been here over a year. I've seen many come and try and fail.. I dont think that is either RJ's problem or her product's problem.. its a problem for the person who has not let their mind totally fight towards change. People say that AA does not work.. or mwo does not work.. its the actual people them selves that are the problem and they are not honest with the fact that they have a problem and how they are going to solve it and they cave in. All RJ has done is put out there what she did for herself. What others do is up to them.

I dont mean to sound judgemental. I also tried heaps of things thinking that some product could help me, but the reality was that no product could help me till I made the decision myself. Once my decision was made, then maybe any product could help... I'm not sure. Certainly I've been sober 1 year and 2 months and I'm happy to stay this way.

What did I do? I got honest in my brain. I fought hard with my brain, but I stayed honest. I came here hoping I could moderate, but for me, I know that I cant.. a sip will mean a gulp to me.. thats me being honest. I have big doubts about moderation because of my own experience. Does this mean its impossible.. no, I'm just expressing what happened to me.

In the beginning I found the feeling that I was not alone to be quite powerful.. but it can also be a trap.. essentially this journey is one that you do alone.. sure, we share bits of it.. (I've been here that long, so I do) but its only me that keeps me sober.

And I am more happy now than I've ever been in my life..
            Change IS possible.
            Good luck.

ditto Brigid Rocky...YOU have to get YOU into THAT mindset...nothing will work if you haven't really decided that this IS it...the rest of the stuff provides many ways to make the decision and the journey much easier, but you HAVE to give it your all...I do not believe there is a magic pill, but for my part, believe that everything that is offered here is as pretty damn close as it's going to get....
I have used the supps, the meds, eat more healthily, and read the boards until my eyes are square, whether I post or not.....and am now 36 days AF and GLAD to be so.....
I say this constantly to people that first appear here, and I'm going to say it again...look through a lot of the Long term abstainers posts...go back through their threads, and think hard about the way they say that they have adjusted their thinking, and lifestyles to keep the thing going....it is really helpful..I read a lot of the LTA posts, and it was these that really got my head into the right place..until then I'd just been 'depriving' myself of alcohol...now, I am glad to say that I don't want to drink...it isn't always easy, I don't mean that I have had some miraculous mental transformation that has rendered my brain immune to the 'charms' of booze....just that I have decided that I DON'T want to drink...and therefore will NOT drink...drink has NEVER made anything better for me...i have no desire to crave something that turns my whole life so pear shaped...it wouldn't make sense now would it???

echoing Brigid again....change is possible...I would NEVER have believed that I could feel so positive about being a non drinker.....go for it my friend...!!!!!! Good viberoonis to you...The melon xo

                how good does it work?

Hi Rocky, I can only echo Weemelon and Brigid, I totally agree with all they say....Like Brigid I have not read the book nor do I take any of the Meds, I do take Supps and Vits though, most of them I buy from local shops, even the Kudzu which I buy in the dried root form from a Chinese herbalist...Some people are sceptical about this site thinking it must be just one large marketing ploy, its not, you can sign up, become a member and read, post and have as much interaction as you want to and it won't cost you a penny....For a week or so I was browsing the internet trying to find a site which would help me kick start a healthy eating and exercise plan, yes, there are hundreds out there but they all charge joining fees and then ongoing monthly fees....Like you I don't have money to waste and at my age I don't have the time to waste either.....All I can say is that for me MWO was like being given the most marvellous gift, when I opened it up and looked inside I found...soberiety....self-respect....strength....confidence.....optimism for the future...a new outlook on the world, suddenly it was a beautiful place again....belief in myself.....wonderful, beautiful people....support...laughter and happieness...Now would I throw that gift away simply for the sake of one more drink of wine, what do you think???
Go for it, its not easy but its so worth it, oh and by the way, today is 104 days AF for me, and since I started drinking about 40 years ago that is the longest I have ever gone without drinking....

Good Luck Rocky, I'll be thinking of you,

                Love Louise xx

                  how good does it work?

AAthlete, AFM, PaulaW, Brigid, Weemelonhead, IrishLady,

Thank you so much for your responses! Congratulations on your personal victories, and your encouragement. I found this site Tuesday this week searching for something that would guide me out of the grog. I think I would be happy to just drink in MOD, but like many have said, once I have one it ends up being 10.
This week I have tried to have one when I get home (Vodka on the rocks & drop of vermouth) start cooking ( I'm a want a be chef) then Water with dinner & then water in between any other drinks I have, trying to keep that to one or two more.
I did good till last night...had one and then 4 more. So I hate myself this morning...

The thing that got me in reading the first two chapters of the book was that once they took the topa, sups, and listened to the CD's their desire to drink was totally gone within a day or two.

I gave my wife the book (copy of the download) last night cause she is in the same boat as me (Wine) and we both want to go moderate, or stop. The stresses of life have us coming home and going right to the bottles.

                  Well thank's again..day by day

                    how good does it work?

                    Hi Rocky,

I have been a "lurker" on MWO boards since April. Your questions are so much like mine when I first started that I decided it was time for me to "come out".

I had struggled with alcohol for at least ten years when I woke up one morning and did a desperate search on the internet for a solution (like many others here). I was so tired of desperately wanting to will myself to stop at 2 or 3 drinks, but finding myself picking up a couple of empty wine bottles each morning and nursing a vicious hangover and horrible regrets.

For the first few months, I dabbled with the MWO program, and had more "good days" than I had in the past, but still battled with my problem. My birthday came in June, and I decided it was time to get serious.

I decided to follow the MWO program EXACTLY as RJ described in the book...supplements, topamax, hypnotherapy, and exercise. And Wham!! It worked!! It wasn't overnight, but I did notice changes within days. And within a couple of weeks, MAJOR changes. My goal was moderation, and that is how I have lived my life for over six months. Alcohol can enhance an evening ,but it no longer controls the evening. I feel like one of the testimonials posted on this site, "I have found a pot of gold!" I actually forget about alcohol. I NEVER thought that would happen!

In my lurking, I have noticed that the hynotherapy aspect of the program is not discussed very often. For me, I think this was a very important piece. I believe that it helped to re-wire my brain and how I think about alcohol. I believe that it helped me with "forgetting" about alcohol and not always worrying about how many drinks will I have tonight, and can I actually stop after 1 or 2? It is also the hardest part of the program to do because you have to set aside time for it and you have to do it every day for a month, but I believe it is very worth it.

Anyway, I recommend that you and your wife read the book and decide for yourself if it is worth a try. What do you have to lose?

I wish you the best. Keep coming back to these boards, even if you just "lurk" like me. It really helps. Good luck and take care.

                          how good does it work?

Rocky, I truly believe that the mind is a "programmable computer". The hypno tapes probably do me the most good out of the program. When I neglect to use them, I see a difference.

I am taking topa. I was at 200 mg but was in a fog - cut back to 150 and was fine. Exercise is also beneficial, but I have always known that. Topa makes me forget about booze, but when someone reminds me, I can always be coaxed. It has also made me dislike the taste of beer, which I have loved since I was a kid. Unfortunately, it has not done the same for my love of scotch, but it has slowed me down substantially.

Most moderation believers suggest that you abstain for 30 days and then see if moderation would work for you. You might want to give that a try. Good luck
