Yes, you're absolutely correct with your observation about people not noticing you're sober, only noticing you're drunk. I was just thinking the same thing recently, which makes it kind of less rewarding being AF, but hey, we know how great your doing! Great job!

hi everyone...i got a good one for you. i made some coffee tonight which i don't usually do but want to stay up a little longer than 9 which is the time i have been going to sleep since i quit drinking...so i said to my husband " oh i can't wait to drink this mocha!" then i said "WOW! i never thought those words would ever come out of my mouth at 5:38 on a Friday night?"-Not drinking has been pretty easy lately. not sure what is going on with that but i just haven't given alcohol much thought at all. i think i still may be scared of everything i am going through. i will have my 1st drinking exposure on st. patty's day. there will be drinking but it is also a family event and will have so many excuses not to drink so i hopefully will not get any crap for it. i feel confident that it shouldn't be a big deal. fingers crossed. -Really feeling the financial burden of this DWI now. My boss has been helping me with extra hours and i have really been pushing painting commissions but we will be hurting for a while and the real heavy fees haven't even happened yet. i hope you all had a nice week and a sober weekend

I drank coffee last night too, which is very rare for me. I got addicted to a TV show on Netflix and we watched the whole first season last night. It used to be I could not remember what I watched on TV or even going to bed at night.

Someone on another thread had a nice response to people who pushed a drink. "No thanks. I have things to do later." I know what you mean about people always noticing when you are drunk but not noticing when you are sober. For me, it's worked out the same way when I'm in a drinking situation. People really aren't very interested in what is in my glass. They generally are more interested in what is in their glass! :H

Hang in there. All the legal stuff will get settled with time.

hello everyone! well this weekend will be 2 months for me! still having my court dates postponed so nothing new with the DWI. hubby hasnt been drinking much if any so it hasnt been so hard. have had some minutes but rode the wave and make it through. really throwing myself into painting and working in the yard. i am a really hard worker but thought i just worked that much harder drinking but have realized it really is my nature. sleeping a lot better. i now longer have to take anything to sleep. welli am tired and am going to bed but wanted to check in. i hope all of you are doing well

Star, it sounds like everything is falling into place. I'm glad you're able to get back to painting again, I used to think I wasn't able to get creative without alcohol and now know anything I do is so much better. I often would come back to something I worked on drunk and my first impression was "this is nothing but crap". Now I come back to something I worked on and it has great energy to it. Have a great week.

I'm glad you have taken this bad experience and used it as an opportunity to change your life. Unfortunately, the only thing I learned from mine was to separate the acts of drinking and driving. It took me 8 more years to finally decide to quit AL and separate my life from drinking.

This absolutely could have been any of us! I know that only by sheer fortunate luck it hasn't happened to me!
When something sh*tty happens to me (as something is going on currently in my life other than drink) I try to think about what things will be like in a year. Maybe with the therapy and the support you receive here your life will be changed for the better! I sincerely hope that for you.
In the meantime everyday brings you further away from the actual time of your DUI and brings you a day closer to feeling/doing better.
I wouldn't give advice or say anything like this if I didn't use these ideas myself.
