      Thanks BFF,

I too, was, a resident after work wine drinker.....and haven't quite got to the AF stage yet, still trying moderate. But the idea that you can still function reasonable well is true but you know in your own mind that you are not and those close to you know as well.

I agree that the sparkle in your eye after an AF day make you feel so much more confident about yourself!

Good luck in your journey my friend.

      Love Trish xx

        Hi BFF,

I know how you feel about thinking you'll be missing out on the fun. We starting curling again a week ago, this was always a good time with many drinks in the past. Last week I stopped at 2 drinks this week I stopped at 1, this is instead of the usually 6-8 drinks. I have noticed I still had a lot of fun and I can actually make the odd shot now since I am sober(go figure). I don't know why we always put alcohol with having fun, but that is usually how we have our minds set.
        Thanks for your thread.

Thanks BFF, there's another 'me' out there! Even down to the 'main drinking partner' - my husband. No. 8 on your list is the biggest yes for me. And after a few, it IS fun, and you don't have to worry about it any more, until you've drunk too much and wonder what you could have done outstandingly that evening, if only you had not poured that first glass... or the last one... It's an awful thought to think that with out the glass, you might actually be a boring/scared person. Wine has become THE hobby, and I hate it. 20 years ago, when tested for fitness level at a new gym, I was off the scales in their marathon levels. Now it's a challenge to walk for 45mins without every muscle aching. And as a teacher, the next morning is definitely behind the 8ball. My wonderful husband, who dutifully goes to buy the second bottle when we've finished the first, congratulates me on my willpower after a night off the vino, but I think concern would be expressed if it became a week. Yes, funny thing this alcohol is.
