    Changing,
    I went AF about a year ago and felt terribly depressed, I did it through AA, then and went three months. This time I have 16 days like you, But I am listening to the tapes... I really think they help because this time I feel really good. Can you get the tapes? I think they could help, although I am not sure how.

    How about exercise, Are yo able to get outside and walk or stretch your legs - winter can be a bit tough without sunshine.. Also are you sleeping okay? I think lots of sleep right now can be a big help.

    Hang in there, You hear how many folks are backing you here. Keep posting and look into the other means of support.

      Any suggestions on how to kick start the first few days. It seems my life is surrounded by alcohol.

        t.bone - I would suggest you separate your life from the alcohol. Like, what I mean is to stay away from your drinking friends for the first while (they will understand if they are really your friends) and get rid of what is in your house....

        For me, I had to ensure there was no alcohol in my home, and really just jumped in with both feet. I wanted to be AF so badly, I was willing to do anything to get it. The withdrawals were hell. But after the first week, I started to feel better. You have to weigh the pros and cons of drinking. I know for me there were NO pros except the first drink buzz.....

        What I guess I am saying is it really is a mind over matter thing! You have to manipulate your brain into wanting to get well.

        Eating well, lots of water and putting those vitamins back in your body are key ingredients for battling this as well. If you need professional help with your withdrawal, or you need some type of medication, see your doctor!!!
