Found this site early on Christmas morning....woke up with a terrible hangover and said to myself there has to be something out there.....I just have to stop drinking like this.......two clicks later I found here. The support here is amazinge and I come in every day and it is helping me hugely.. Another hangover later I decided to give it a try and gave it up on New Years Eve of all days. I am 16 days AF now and I feel terrible. I wish I could say I feel well and healthy and fantastic off the drink. I dont but I am still off it....

I am hanging in there at the moment....Just about. Thanks for listening.....and wishing everyone well...

Changing - you are doing remarkably well with the 16 days!!!! I know you aren't feeling any better yet, but give it some more time. We all are different, and sometimes it takes longer than others to start noticing the positive effects from being AF.

:welcome: Changing.....That is fantastic...16 DAYS ALCOHOL FREE......:wd: In what way do you feel awful??...If its in a physical way then it could be the toxins leaving your body.....If its on an emotional level then you will have to do some work on your mind as regards how you view alcohol...I would suggest you keep on reading, posting and reading again, that helps, don't be afraid to ask for help, someone will always answer your call, try and keep your diet as healthy as possible, click on the Health Store logo at the top of the main page, have a look at all the stuff there which may help you, but the most important thing of all is YOU and your attitude towards doing this...You sound like a winner to me...Go for it girl...

congratulations on being AF!! Day 41 for me! and its my birthday and normally would plan that drink for later tonight....well not anymore!! You have to have a positive attitude and change your thinking. Your doing great! It will get easier as time goes by. Hang in there and don't give up!!

I don't think being sober is going to take away bad days (or even periods of days). Just be glad you have that great accomplishent behind you and that you're not going to drink and make the bad days immeasurably WORSE.

You will only feel better as time goes on right?
Do you feel depressed/bored because you are not drinking? If so, I know what you mean because I have felt that after a period of abs too. BUT remember it gets easier as you go on - and its much better to feel that way then to feel the self-loathing, shame and anger that you feel when hungover and drinking, I would think....agreed?

Sorry you aren't feeling great though - Louise had some very good questions for you I thought. Drinking often masks some issues we don't feel like dealing with.
You are doing great - may be time to do some thinking about how you are feeling now.

Thanks.....Mentally I am doing ok as I am quite determined for change and doing better with support. Physically I feel awful....From a position of relative good health (drinking most days!) I am catching every cold going and feel really tired (not drinking at all)? Goes to show you how toxic the body becomes.......I felt really frustrated today about it all and let that out here....

I will look into the health store.....and the books and CD etc.....
