    my journey

    :new:
I drank alcoholically for 27 years; got married and divorced 3 times and lost contact with my son for 11 years! I tried everything out there including medication; therapy; moderation etc and then i found AA
(alcoholics anonymous) I went from not being able to go without a drink for 9 hours and now i have not had a drink in almost 9 years! In that time I have never even thought of having a drink - now that's something that works.
I have since had miracles in my life. My son came back into my life 18 months ago (he is now 32) and have just stayed in his home for the first time. I am now a real Grandma to my 9 year old grandson and had our very first outing to the movies on our own. I have remarried to a fellow aa member and have 3 loving stepchildren who have lived with us for a few years.
I have a lot of pain every day physically but am happy, joyous and free!!! My emotional pain has completely gone and all I have to do is go to AA and keep in touch with my AA friends and do the AA program - simple!!

      Welcome AA,

I'm really happy for you! You've come through a long dark period and alot of challanges are now on the other side. I'm sure having your son and now grandson in your life is one of the best rewards you could have for all the hard work and change you've made. Congrats.

:thanks: Rarely have we seen a person fail who has thoroughly followed our path. Those who do not recover are people who cannot or will not completely give themselves to this simple program. "alcoholics anonymous big book"

          Dear AA,

Just as their are many spiritual beliefs around the world, there are more than one way to tackle this problem. I'm sorry but AA is not for me. Having said that, I am sooo thankful for the MWO and this website as this is something that does work for me.

I agree with Olly. AA is not for me either. It's not for a lot of people, and thankfully there are other programs like MWO, Rational Recovery, Women for Sobriety, etc. that work for those of us who prefer a different path to sobriety.
