    Starting AGAIN

I havent had a good couple of weeks.
Only a couple AF days. I havent been trying. I really need to try harder.
I really want to be AF during the week and moderate on weekends but right now I need to work on being AF for a little while. It has been easier to drink than not to.
So here I am ,starting all over again.

    Starting AGAIN

Daisy, you may be starting over, but you are sooo much farther along than a whole lot of people who won't even admit they have a problem.

I think your idea of going AF for the time being is a good one. It will allow you to get things under control to the point where you can make a clear-headed decision about your drinking going forward.

I wish you the best in your new push towards AF - I know you can do it.

Daisy - I agree. Today is a new day so just think about today. Don't even think about tomorrow. You can be af today!

AAthlete is right. You know how alcohol is affecting you.

You said you haven't had a good fews weeks and it is so easy to say "I'll have a drink tonight" just to unwind. But don't worry about having to "start again". It's like taking little baby steps. A baby tries to walk, but when they fall over they don't give up, they try again. Oh...and there's that song (don't know who sang it) "If first you don't succeed then you get up and try again".

Therefore, don't be disheartened or lose faith in yourself. You can do this. I wish you all the best.

Starting over again is WAY better than giving up.
It's a daily struggle for us all. Keep up the fight. Don't give up.
            Good luck!

              Starting AGAIN

I've started again so many times I've lost count - I'm on day 13 af now and feel better than have in ages.
I have previously tried to moderate at weekends and be af in week - I just found it all blurred and was so difficult to stop at 2 glasses of wine.
I 'm just trying to take each day at a time at the moment rather than decide what i'm doing longterm at the mo.
keep posting and reading - and I think there's real strength in you for starting again.
              all the best

Morning daisychain......yup...the melon will just borrow ALL the words wot have gone previously and swizzle them round and ramble them out again....
Just keep trying!!! A slip is a slip...just that...it can make you feel mentally like a bag of guano, but try your best to ignore that, and focus on the new start...I agree with Athlete though, I reckon even if you are eventually aiming for mods, a period of AF is needed to clear the bonce.......as bear has just posted, the lines can become a little blurred if you trot straight from drinking to trying to moderate...and that weekend 'moderation' can turn into the 'one chance a week' to drink, encouraging bingeing....still..you have to find the approach that works for you....hope you do petal .......melonhead

I agree do not give up. Last nite I decided I needed a good buzz so I got one. Today I feel like crap, but I am going to start again, truth be told I have been doing really good and I do not want little set backs to make me upset anymore. I won't give up and neither should you. OK

I'd recommend a period of ABS and then rethink everything. Congrats on coming here. That is a major step. There are plenty of alcoholics on this board (some worse off than you) who have found tremendous success! Good luck and keep reading and posting.

Geez, don't beat yourself up. You've achieved AF days. That is a wonderful beginning. It lets you know you can do it. It is very challenging, but wow, don't you feel good when you go a day AF.
Don't become despondant/annoyed if you don't ahieve it all at once. We can be very hard on ourselves at times.
