    I'm on day 5 AF.

I feel pretty good. I have been busy with Hubby yesterday. That makes it easier when we have a day off together. I've been tired a lot this week but I been eating a bit more sugar than I should be. I'm trying to eat fruit instead of candy and cookies. Last night I made hot air popcorn and drizzled some olive oil seasoned with hot n spicy Mrs. Dash. That helped me not want the sugary stuff. Trying to keep my diet on a better path is difficult. But like some of you say when I eat healthier I don't feel the urge to drink as strongly. I guess getting the good nutritive foods help our bodies handle stress better. It makes sense......Hope all of you are doing well today and Huggs to everyone.

    Hi h,
It is better for me too when my wife and I have the same day off.
Susan works in retail and works every Saturday and every other Sunday. She is the assistant manageress. I have to work some weekends too, bit I rarely know if I will be working until maybe the Thursday or Friday, so it can be difficult to arrange anything.
I'm on Day 7 today. I'm not interested in drinking today for some reason. I think this weekend will be fine.

congrats on day 7AF paul. yeah, hubby and i both work retail. so, days off together are difficult to get. i do awful on off days alone. especially when i'm in a depressed state. hopefully things will get easier on my dosage of meds. now just to learn new coping skills instead of running to the bottle when i feel bad or am stressed or am just inside my head too much. yep thurs day i wanted a drink. fri with hubby no desire for one. funny, huh? have a great day paul i'm off to get ready for work.

Yep I was good yesterday. Today is going good. Hubby and I have the afternoon off together. He's been off all day. I went in and worked and extra shift. I'm too tired to even want a drink.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be the test. I'm off those days. I'm not even going to worry now. I can't. Just today.

It's good to know that I'm not the only one who struggles on days when there's no one else at home. I need to make sure I get up and do stuff to keep me busy those days. So, now onto 7 Days only one more day.......

                  Good job H

When tempted go back to the many lists, of "Why I want to quit drinking" that so many here have posted. Lately when I look at a bottle or a drink, I have begun to despise it more and more, just from reading what it has put us all through on this board.

It reminds me of some creep that was terrorizing my daughter when she was in high school, I wanted to find him and choke the devil out of him.

Well alcohol has been terrorizing us all... I despise it more each day...

You know Rocky, you have a good handle on this...A lot of people who try to quit drinking act as if they have been deprived of something good in their lives, something of value, a best friend, but now as you say, you have started to despise it and see it for what it is really is...Hang on in their my friend, you will succeed...

Rocky! That is EXACTLY the attitude you must have when wanting to quit the alcohol. Good for you!!! When I was at the point of letting it go, I too despised it........... hated it so much and truly believed (and still believe) in my heart there was nothing good about it. You are well on your way, my friend!!!!

Yes Yes I agree with this!! It makes me angry when I see a bottle or if I see someone drunk... I'm starting to despise it too. In some ways it upsets me that I ever let alcohol become such a big part of my life and that it had such a hold on me. Well, no more!!!
