    Can't Take Much More

    Hi Guys

Hope you can help me. In April 2006 had a car accident, with the kids no one was hurt. ( Hit a Pole) wasn't going fast doing a short cut.

Rang the insurance co and said do I need to call the police, (NO they said) my husband took me home and then whenI got home i had a very stiff drink one hour later the police came. 25 mins after the ambos' came and then the police but me on the bag, after I told them that i had a very strong drink, went to hospital and a blood test.

On the 28th October 06 they came and booked me for drink driving the court hearing was on the 21 Nov 06, plea ed not glitiey. Now the trail start on the 7th of Feb 07 and the police will not hand over the tape record or the brief. We have have ask for this from the 22nd Nov 06 and every week from then.

Can'tt sleep at night have had a couple of drinks, would like more but I know. Cann't take much more..

If you cann't drink in your own home, well...............

First of all, glad that everyone was okay...

Sounds like a case of bad luck and rotten timing. Can your husband vouch for you (and will that count for anything)? I know where you are coming from - why can't you drink in your own house - but I can also understand the police viewpoint.

My brother is a police officer in Chicago, and I can't believe some of the stories that he tells me. I can understand why they would be skeptical that you weren't drinking and driving - they hear stories like that all the time.

Doesn't make it any better for you, and I feel for you. Hopefully things work out okay in the end.

Sorry you are going through this. Not sure where you are from - in the US, it doesn't sound like they have any evidence.

This too shall pass. Take care of yourself.

          Hi Debh,
It struck me straight away as very odd that if the police were not called and no-one was hurt, who contacted the police and ambulance? The insurance company? A bystander? How did they know how to come to your house? It is weird. So maybe you can use that somehow when your case comes up. I really don't think that the police can have too much of a case as 1: they did not attend the scene, and 2: arrived at your house an hour after the event. Can you get the info you need under Freedom of Information or something? Do you have a solicitor acting for you? If not, seek legal advice to see if the cops can do this. It seems an inordinately long time between the event and you being charged, but then I know nothing about US system. Sorry I can't be any more helpful. My thoughts are with you that everything will work out for you.
          Let usknow how you go.
