    Elevated Liver function tests!

I've been drinking quite a bit for years for a number of reasons...I've tried hypnosis and even tried the MYO program for awhile...tried the hypnosis CDs with this program as well....I've gone through phases where my drinking subsided a bit but....I've been out of work for six months (thank God I just found a decent job!)...being out of work gave me an excuse to drink more so I've spent the last six months on a binge....
Applied for a new life insurance policy recently and they did blood work...they refused to give me a policy due to elevated liver functions/readings....I have had two other blood work-ups recently...I hadn't heard anything back on either but called my regular doc today and was told that the last one they did for me had elevated readings as well and they will probably want to do some more tests. I just wonder when they were going to tell me...had I not called I wouldn't have known THEIR test showed the same results....
I know I've got to stop drinking...it has just been such a cliff to climb for me.
I guess the point of this post is to ask for prayers that I haven't done too much damage. I've read that if it hasn't gone too far and I stop, start taking the right supplements I may be able to repair the damage done...I just pray it isn't too late, at 47, I'm too young to die.

Demi, I understand your fear. The liver is a very forgiving organ. Take your milk thistle and do what you can to get the drinking under control. You are not going to die. Please keep us posted!!!!

I DID drink quite a bit the nights and days before the tests...I've read that drinking within days of taking the tests can affect them...next time I take a LFT I'll try not to drink for a few days before. I'll increase the Milk Thistle and maybe do a Dr. Cabot liver cleanse this weekend...maybe that will help a bit.

          Demi:
I have evelated liver function and I have been told there are fatty deposits in my liver as well. I just started on the MWO and have been reading ALOT about milk thistle. Hopefully with cutting back on the nightly drinking and taking the right supplements we can begin to heal our bodies as well as our minds. I'm 44 and I'm with you demimalti! We can beat this thing. Keep us posted!

            Elevated Liver function tests!

This post is very timely for me! I am 46 and I have a physical scheduled for friday for life insurance - I haven't been too bad this month, I had 9 AF days, the rest I moderated and had about 4 "overboard" days - yesterday was one of them. I plan not to drink tonite and thursday. However, I am nervous. I've been taking milk thistle and Same for months and have been eating very well. Should I make up an excuse and reschedule for next week? And what is the Cabot cleanse? I can abstain when I have a real fire lit under me - this is it! I wish everyone healthy test results!

              I don't post much...but

I spend most of my time on here just reading, but wanted to share with you that over a year ago I had routine blood work done and the liver portion came back very bad. I think the doc called it alcholic liver disease or something like that. I have been a very heavy drinker for many years. Earlier this month I applied for more life insurance....did my physical / blood samples...and last week the policy was issued at the preferred rates. All tests were within normal range. I am about 40 yrs.old. I did not quit drinking, but I have been trying to slow way down. I have been taking milk thistle for about two months. I am still a little scared to go back to my doc. I just wanted to share this and say to you not to give up. You will probably be just fine...hang in there

I know first hand how being out of work can mess you up. That puts you in a vicious circle.
I agree with everyone...Lots of Milk Thistle and water. Go for the water instead of the drinks...

The Dr Cabot is the liver doctor. I have used Her livetone plus and bought the liver cleansing book...she knows her stuff.. here is the link..

                  Elevated Liver function tests!

                  Demi-

I have been seeing my Dr. for awhile & we have been doing my blood work each time. Every time I got it done I had elevated liver enzymes (nothing alarming but enough to say let's watch it).

Eventually my Dr. said in order to get the right readings "stop drinking for at least a month before getting the blood drawn". The last time I got it drawn I was 3 weeks AF & sure enough-a clean bill of health.

Every single time I went I usually drank 1 -2 weeks before getting my blood drawn thinking the alcohol had passed or that my liver had recuperated. Mind you I was a binge drinker. Oh and I took milk thistle religiously. But drinking alcohol is toxic to the liver...plain & simple.

But fret not, the liver is a feisty thing! And it forgives....:k

Thanks for all your encouragement...I do feel like I'm among people who know what it is like to have this problem...I'm going to religiously take the milk thistle...I am weaning myself off the bottle...haven't had anything hard in four days (that's an accomplishment)...and have cut my wine intake down to about half...about two glasses...well when I say glasses...I generally drink my wine in large glasses..about 12 oz at a time...It is good to be around people who have "been there/here."...I'm also going to give the hypnotic cds a try again...I'll slay this dragon, one way or another...

I'm just curious, but.. how did your doctor find out that you had fatty deposits in your liver?
