    Other ways to relax

    I am a busy mom. Long for the quiet of days past. Now it's breakfast,laundry, schedules, showers, bedtime....oh, and homework! I use Xanax to take the edge off. I drink maybe once every two weeks, can easily go to dinner and have a glass of wine or two, then home to bed. Not to say that I have not had some very low moments. Embarrasing moments. I 'd say 5-8 a yr my triggers are up and I binge. I am trying to find balance. I ordered the tapes and vitamins. Trying to get in to see a NP tonged on Topamax, or boclrl? Anyone w similar issues or thoughts? When I do over imbibe, I don't want to feelnterible about myself, orvhaving my husband pick up the pieces. I am working on being Mindful.

    Hi there. I have 2 young children too, it's hard! I joined the gym and go swimming and tonight I'm going to yoga. I'm hoping this will really help take my mind off of AL. I really enjoy reading too but sitting down doing that, I find my mind wanders and I start thinking about AL. So I don't do that so much anymore!

      Hi M2T,

      I am a mom of 1 but I know how much work is involved. You need to carve out some time for YOU. Maybe after the kids are in bed you can take a nice long hot bath, or give yourself a facial, polish your nails, or treat yourself to your favorite snack. I love to read, so having that quiet time is important to me. I also listen to relaxation CD's that are available through the Library, or you can always buy them online. It's important for you to take care of yourself through this time...and if you do that, you'll be able to take care of everybody else.

        I've found mindfulness really helpful. Look up Jon Kabet - Zinn.
