    **I'm a weekend warrior**

The week is always easy for me - I go to work on Mondays and work all week without having a drink. Come Friday though, I am thinking about the martini I'm going to have when I get home from work. Sometimes I don't and I leave the drinking for Saturday, especially if there is something social happening. We have a lot of friends/events and all are casual to heavy drinkers/drinking situations. Some of my girlfriends have gotten to the same point as me - realizing that we are abusing alcohol. Some have stopped - others have moderated. But I can't seem to get through a weekend without having a hangover either Saturday or Sunday morning. I always associate having fun with drinking, but I'm worried what this effect will have on my teenage kids as well as my liver. I would welcome suggestions for moderating - although I really need hand-holding! What supplements can I take now to help curb the craving with alcohol:new: ?

    Hi & Welcome Dorilynn:welcome:

My first suggestion would be to download the MWO book. Some of us have taken the Topa route, others did Campral while others just stuck with supplements & vitamins.

Poke around the boards-you'll find a very diverse bunch!

You situation sounds very similar to mine - I would be fine during the week but would then make up for it on the weekend.

The kudzu could certainly help you, along with the other supplements, but unfortunately there is no magic pill. I would encourage you to read the MWO book - lots of good information in there. The program advocates going 30 days alcohol-free before attempting to moderate so that you can get your drinking under control.

Me? I'd had enough of saying that I wasn't going to drink/drink as much on the weekend, only to wake up Monday morning kicking myself for blowing my money/time/exercise down the drain, so I went alcohol-free.

Only you can decide what you want out of this program, but I can tell you that this website made all the difference in the world to me. Lots of good people with good advice who have been in the same place that we have.

      Best of luck to you.

This website has made a big difference for me, and the people on the forums are fantastic. I too had to go alcohol-free... there was no other option in my case. And I feel so amazing.

Make a start here and drop by the forums as often as you can - you'll get lots of support here.

Despise the alcohol, it is NOT your friend

welcome here. As others mention read the book and read as many posts here as you can. The more I read, the more it changed my mind set and view of alcohol.

the book outlines what supplements help with cravings, and they do help.

Good luck and keep coming back..

            :welcome: Dorilynn

I hope you find MWO inspiring and helpful.

If you find yourself drinking more at weekends, then maybe you need to change the routine. The first week will be difficult, but then afterwards you will find it easier.

Drinking may be fun for a few hours, but definately not the next day when you've got a hangover. You are at an advantage as you mentioned that some of your friends have stopped. Why not get together on the weekend and go somewhere but without the alcohol.

I wish you all the best.
