    Campral - Greaat Success

My doctor prescribed me Campral. After years of drinking a 1/2 pint to a pint of vodka every night, I have gone AF for two weeks now. I am feeling really good.

The literature said that I should be AF for 5 days before starting, but I couldn't do that. I jus started taking it on a Monday morning. Monday and Tuesday nights were a little tough, but now I haven't drank in 2 weeks and I really can't believe it.

For me Campral seems like it is the answer.

Mokmark, well done on being AF for two weeks, that is a fantastic achievement. As Kate said though, we still have to exercise will power, so that combined with the MWO site and you are on to a winner..

      Good Luck, Louise..

        Campral - Greaat Success

I'm on campral and have just made 70 days AF. I did 6 months early last year on campral but got slack.... the stuff really works - jsut don't try and go off it too soon like I did last year. Dr recommends at least 12 months.
It always seems impossible until it's done....

I took Acamprosate for a couple of years with no discernible benefit. I don't bother with it now. If it works for you that's great. Hope you stay alcohol free. It gets worse each time you go back to drinking, believe me. You've made the right decision - the best one you could ever make - so stick with it. You will feel better with each day that you remain alcohol free. Peace.

Thank you all for the kind words. You are right. For me, it was addiction plus habit. And the habit part is not to be underestimated. I travel a lot and find myself alone in the evenings. That is when I looked forward to the relaxing buzz. Each night, I still get that urge, but, as my doctor said, there is an addiction part too. Apparently, that is at least half the battle (for me anyway), and the Campral remarkably takes care of that. I cannot described exactly what the Campral is doing. But something is different.

Before the Campral I tried a number of times just to resist the urge. Mostly I couldn't even go a single evening.

I am feeling so much better without the little hangovers in the morning, and sleeping better too. I need to stay on course and feel optimistic that I can.

            Thanks!
