    May makeover

Welcome ODAT :welcome: Of course you can!

    Imaclean
, don't worry. Its not about how you fall, but how you get up. Try not to let it get you down, what counts is that you are back here already coming up with better strategies. :l

I know this is not a medical thread and I will not say a word further on the topic unless someone asks me too but I do believe in using Antabuse in the first 30 days of sobriety, if being AF is your goal. It really helps you stick to your goal if something really big comes along, like my breakup or even when something mundane comes along, like a big boring weekend. It is a serious drug though and it should only be used with caution but it definitely helped me reach 30 days sober and lose 6 pounds in the process .

      Hi All!

Wow this thread has been busy! I will try my best to catch up here!

SOI - Please do not berate yourself for your 3 glasses of wine, and don't you dare think of deleting this thread (please!)...we all need each other here. I can't tell you how many times I "started over"...eventually it will click and you will get it. Don't give up! We are here for you!

ODAT - We're glad to have you here with us! Please keep posting so we can get to know you!

Ima - Again, if I had a nickel for every time I had a "day one", I'd be pretty rich! Just get back on the horse as they say. We are here to help you get through this.

Dizzy - Sorry about the BF troubles. I'm glad you're seeing that things are easier dealt with sober. Yes, the problems are still there, but at least you don't have to deal with them with a hangover! Or have the anxiety and shame of behaving in a way that emabarrassed you.

Well I am back to work on a lovely Monday morning. My weekend was boring, just the way I like it! Today is day 5 of Level 2 of the 30 Day Shred...it's kicking my arse but I lost 5 pounds! Please everyone, stay strong....we can get through this together!!

I'm back! Having a really hard time but I always do in the evening. My 13 and 15 year old never do their chores! Same chores, same rules everyday and neither one of them can remember them. Then they say "i'm sorry" and I say " no your not or you wouldn't do the same thing everyday" then the sass mouth me and I just want to hit them! If I am drunk when I get home I don't care and we don't fight. Today I have my coke zero and my fajita chicken taco with black beans and salsa (home made) to hold me off the vodka hopefully. I ask myself why raising two kids is so hard but I know, if it was not the kids it would be something else that makes me want to drink. Fact is , its really nothing, I just want to drink. It's bad for me and I need to stay away from it for the summer at least, maybe longer, well see.

                Hi ODAT!
Glad you're back! You know, I agreed with my daughter that she can keep her room however she likes it based on a couple of conditions. One, she can't ever ask me where anything is...it's probably in that mess of a room and I don't want to hear about anything being "lost". Two, she does her own laundry. Three, no dirty dishes are allowed to stay in there, everything else goes. Yeah, maybe it's not the best way to parent, but it saves us both a lot of frustration. But like you said, if it's not kids and chores, it would be something else making us want to drink, like oh say, it's a day ending in "Y". Enjoy your coke and tacos (sounds good) and get through the night. Each one gets easier!

15 more minutes and I've made it! Really I've pretty much made it, there's no way I could get to a store that sells vodka now. Had a pretty good night really. Not drinking during the week is old hat to me, I back slid since the beginning of the year but that's only been 4 months really. I struggle with the weekends like most here. Come Friday will be the real test. Also I get off early thursday and friday so that's a new challenge. I hope the gym and good food and company will see me through those tough times. Nite all, hope everyone made it through also.

Yeah, Pat, there are worst things to do than to superglue yourself to K9. She's such an inspiration.

K9, thanks for your kind words and well done on the weight loss. I've ordered the 30 day shred but I'm already quaking in my boots - that woman scares the hell out of me!

Well done on not drinking ODAT I have wished in the past that they are stricter on alcohol laws to actually help us folk out as in for example not selling any booze at shops after 5pm. One of the biggest things to learn about modding or being AF is how to deal with stressors. Drinking is not dealing, its hiding. To be honest, I have actually found a lot of SOLUTIONS in the last month and a half to problems that always made me drink. Good luck with the kids though. :l

I have a cold so I'm not doing too much but I did half an hour's gardening and a half an hour walk in the park with the dog yesterday. Also made a very healthy dinner with oven baked fish and Mediterranean veggies.

Lots of hugs and positive energy to everyone,

hello Dizzy and K9 and ODAT and Patricia!!
and So over it. i miss a day and i miss so much going on here.
Dizzy, i'm glad you were able to deal with the situation with your boyfriend sober! i have lots of issues with my bf--jealousy, lack of trust, communication-.-mostly brought on by me. and when i'm feeling threatened or hurt i immediately turn to drinking. it's been so hard to change that habit. but i'm becoming more balanced. i'm really happy for you.!

                        oops--
Patricia, i'm also really glad to see you again!
+and ODAT and K9 --wanted to ask you both about chores. my kids are younger--7, 10 and 11-- and all my attempts at starting up with chores have failed. do you give the kids an allowance? what other things do they have to do? and when did you start with chores? i have a similar "bedroom" rule with the girls. but anyway, every 2 weeks i have to thoroughly clean it cause it drives me mad. would love to hear more!
ODAT-- what a lot recommend is actually writing out a plan for the weekend. a not drinking plan.
                        i think it works.
                        see you all later..

                            Good Morning Maykers.
I posted a new thread over in need help.
My doc won't give me Antabuse or Campral and I'm on the edge.
I dumped out all the listerine in my house! I know it sounds crazy but it's not out of my realm.

I hope every one is doing well. I am determined to make May my month but I am so frustrated. I thought the Antabuse or Campral would be my ticket.

                              Good morning all!

Nursie - during my lurking time you were such an inspiration to me. I know you have it in you to do this with whatever tools are available to you, even if it's not AB.

Dizzybee - would like to hear some of those solutions that help you remain AF.

Welcome to ODAT and any others i missed.

day 2 and what a difference a day makes. Feeling much better and hopeful. Still working on a PLAN for the weekend.

off to get ready for work, i hope everyone has a peace filled AF day.

P.S. I need to find a way to relax, it seems the only time i feel relaxed is with a drink in my hand. Otherwise i'm running myself ragged "doing things".
