Drinking Too Much

Hi, I have been drinking way to much and I think it is time for a break. I had quit before for over 3 years and I did more in that time than I had done in my whole life. I guess I am looking for some ideas on how not to drink. I know that its stop completely for most everyone and that tapering does not work for many. I just joined this forum again today and gonna try again. Thanks to anyone who responds.

I finally found alot of peace in stopping completely. When I tried to moderate (is that what you are meaning by tapering?) I was pretty miserable. I hope you stick around because three years AF is quite an accomplishment and I'm sure you can help someone else around here! :welcome:

That's great that you've managed 3 years of not drinking in the past...wow, that's a huge accomplishment. How did you do it then? Tapering or moderating never worked for me. I am an all-or-nothing type gal, so if I have one beer, I'm going to finish off the 12 pack. Others have had better success in that area though. "All" stopped working for me a long time ago, so now I drink nothing. Complete abstinance is way easier for me. Are you able to go to a Doctor and talk about meds or anything like that? I take Antabuse, and between that and MWO, I have been able to get and stay sober. You can do the same, you've found a great place to be, and we're glad you're here. Stick close and let us know how you are!

Hi Joe. Welcome, and good job on starting over again. If I may ask, what made you turn to AL again after 3 years AF? As a newbie myself it's always fascinating in a morbid kind of way to hear why people who managed to quit went back to drinking, as this is the first time I've ever given up AL completely. I guess what's implicit in my curiosity is, will that happen to me?
