I Want to do this! Help?

Hi, I really need to quit drinking so much. I just get so damm lonely.

My kids are gone, I never get to see my gbaby as my sdaughter who is sooo wonderful, says that the her daughter is in too many homes during the week. With daycare, her Dads, preschool and home. My last dog died a few months ago and so i am always alone.

Soo, my hubby works a lot and is always gone. I live out in the middle of nowhere so at night I start with wine, then onto the hard stuff. My hubby drinks too when he is home and when we dont drink during the week, we love it. But when I am alone, its like my friend. I dont get drunk, just enough to feel it and feel like crap the next day.

I love to workout, but the alcohol has packed on about 20 lbs., I eat really well.

I hope to be able to get some friends on here in the same boat. Thanks for listening!

    Hi Knrgy

Welcome to MWO you have found a great place to be.

I was a daily wine drinker and with the help of this wonderful site I am now on day 71 AF.

Because there are people on here from all over the world, there is always someone around to support you 24/7.

      Hi knrgy,

Welcome to MWO, this is a good place
I totally understand the living in the middle of nowhere & the lonliness - I've been dealing with all that too for quite some time.
I have made some really wonderful friends here - better than family really

Have you read the MWO book yet? I downloaded the pdf right from the Health store here on the site. It's full of good information to help you get started.

Please drop in the Newbies Nest thread for ongoing support.
      Wishing you the best!

        Hi Knrgy,

Sorry to hear that you are having a hard time! You mentioned you like to workout. What kind of workout do you like to do? I am a die hard runner and that has been a real help with me when trying to deal with being lonely. Sorry to hear about your doggie, I just got a dog and wow it's only been a month since I had her and the thought of losing her would be devastating. Would you be open to getting another dog?

Well, I just wanted to let you know that this is a great site and you will get alot support. You also might want to check the chat room, that could help alot. I know from experience that once you

Anywho, keep posting and again try to get yourself out to do a workout, even if it's just for 10 minutes.

        Hugs,
        Janet

          Welcome!

Good to see you here Knrgy! You're amongst friends and people who have 'been there, done that' and are also trying to create a new life. Breaking old habits and routines is hard, but once new ones are in place they can take over. Loneliness is tough - I also have an empty nest but have found that not drinking gives me more energy and motivation to go and find things to do. Can you get places by driving? Stay over with friends when your husband's travelling sometimes? Arrange specific things during the week... Drinking for me was a way of not having to face an evening alone and the first drink marked the 'end of the day' - looking back now it seems such a waste, but filling those extra 4 or 5 hours each night needed plans! Coming here helps a lot - it renews commitment, focuses your attention, keeps you busy, and gives you a whole lot of new friends who know exactly where you're coming from!

So :welcome: and look forward to seeing you around.
