Hi, im 27 Year Old Male and my drinking is becoming out of control!!! Im a normal enough lad, but over the last 3 years my drinking has become a big problem. I go through spells. Like ill drink for like 5 days in a row and then stop for like 2 maybe 3 days, then drink for 5 or 6days. It just goes on like that all the time. its so annoying because when im off drink for few days i start to feel better and better in myself and then ill just (prob out of habbit) start drinking again. its so frustrating!! the amounts ide drink would be big enough. i mainly drink at home (i live with my parents) i would drink between 8 and 10 500ml cans on a normal drinking night. Pretty much never would i have lets say 3 or 4 cans. And last nite i drank a staggering 15 cans!!! Like thats not good!! Its cant be!! like what will i be like in 2 or 3 years time??? I live in a country which loves Drink!! I live in Ireland. All my friends and family drink and i dont even know anyone who doesnt drink! its like the done thing here or something. Anyway, im not going to drink tonight, even doh i want to, but writing on this site is keeping me busy.
My Parents never really say anything about my drinking because they would drink a good bit too. but not as much as me and there are the best parents in the world. there are very good to me!!
The amount of times i just watch tv during the week and just drink can after can is unreal!! i want to change my ways but i always go back to drink in the end. Can Anyone help me? i want to change but im standing in my own way and cant stop it. :new:

you have great fortune you found MWO so early on.
Please search for Posts of MARIO. He is also from Irland and he is a tremendous resourse.
Go to search, type in Mario and then you can search all his posts or the threads he started...
I'd start with threads. Gives a sort of time line...

This is a good place, lots of support is available here
You are a young guy, sounds like you need to make some major changes in your life before something bad happens. Binge drinking will only get progressively worse & that is not good.

I started out by reading the MWO book, it's full of good info.
Download the pdf from the Heath store here on th esite.
Make a good plan for yourself, it really helps keep you focused on your goals. Use the ideas in the https://www.mywayout.org/community/f1...box-27556.html
Keep yourself busy & away from alcohol for a period of 30 days then see how you feel.

It was during that initial 30 day period of abstinence that I decided to remain abstinent forever.
The MWO Hypno CDs really helped convince me that I don't need AL in my life, it is poison to me.

Drop in the Newbies Nest thread for ongoing support. Lots of folks there just getting started as well

You're 27 and realising you have a problem. Well done! You have your whole life ahead of you and have the opportunity of saying no to this path at such a young age. I wish you great strength to kick it now and move forward to a life full of joy without the beast. Go for it Topper despite those that drink around you. A gift if you can recognise it now. Thanks so much for the words of encouragement guys! It helped. Im going to try and do what u said lavande and try and stay off it 30 days and see how i feel. On day five already. I went for two runs over last few days. Trying to keep busy. Having been tested yet. Have weekend ahead. Fingers crossed it wil be ok

Stay close and go to lots of meetings. Get a sponsor, work the steps. Don't drink or use.

Topper I found that L-Glutamine helped me a lot with my cravings. It's talked about in the MWO book. Also I love the book Kick The Drink Easily by Jason Vale. It will change the way you think about alcohol.

Hi Topper. I too am from Dublin. Welcome. Lotsa us paddies over on Army thread. Yes buy Jason Vales book and get LGlut powder in health shop. That's a start. I do gym work and the lads there swear by glut for calmIng the system but it works for cravings.
