    10% reduction technique

Day one almost complete, I am off to bed shortly, today has been a struggle to say the least but if I can cope without alcohol after all that then I think I am going to be ok!

Onwards and upwards to day two

I am so happy!!!! Got through my first day and I haven't had any side effects at all, no night sweats which is especially good as usually I get them really bad when I quit I had an excellent night's sleep, my son slept for 14 hours and seems a bit better this morning, his temperature is almost back to normal and he is eating strawberries atm so I am really pleased.

So to day two and my plans: we are going to have breakfast and then go out for a drive later, have a van picnic which my son loves and get a bit of fresh air if he is up to it, we need to call at the refuse centre and take all the magnolia clippings and then I want to go shopping for storecupboard ingredients for my DD who is moving into a new house with her boyfriend (they were living in a shared house before) I am going to make her up a hamper with essentials and a few little luxuries too.

I feel positive and strong today and so grateful to this forum for everyones support :thanks:

Aw thanks Daisy, I am so proud of myself I am beaming ear to ear LOL you know i think this is the first time I have ever set myself a goal on here and actually followed it through, in the past I have had to either come back declaring a failure or I have just slunk away for a few weeks from the shame of it!! How are you doing? any side effects? hope you are keeping strong too :l

I am feeling better, even at day 3, than I have ever felt in a quit; I have gotten back to my exercise, getting my house sorted and most of all, resetting the body clock. I went to bed at 1 last night, which is early for me. Up at 8 and ready to put in another 'good' day.
Enjoy your day missus and pick up on all those little things that only sobriety can give you and celebrate them!!

Thank you everyone, I do feel really good and I am suprised by my change of attitude, I don't know if it is the hypno cd, the constant posting and reading on here or my reduction plan or a combination of all three but something seems to have clicked this time!! I started reading Alan Carr last night and also the 'big book', I will be going to AA tomorrow evening even though it seems strange being my bd!!

Took my son to the hospital this afternoon and it transpires he has tonsilitis poor little dude, we have antibiotics which we are supposed to administer 4 times a day - OMG what a nightmare, he spits them out every time!!! We had to hold him down for the doctor to check him over and he tried to hit her - mortified!!!!!

I am feeling really thirsty all the time the last few days, off to post and see if that happened to anyone else?

Mauri, I am so happy to hear that you are having a successful Day 2!! I tell you, the easiest thing in the world is to get the WTF's....but elbow your way thru them a time or two and you will start to get this wonderful sense of CONTROL! Something we aren't used to after being led by the nose for so long! I'm so proud of you!
I don't remember thirst during my first few days, but I had flu-like symptoms...achy and bone-tired. Keep yourself hydrated and keep yourself full!!! Onwards to Day 3 where even better things happen!!
We are all pulling for you!! XXOO, B

Thank you byrdie, I am tired but then I always am! I am trying to eat lots and I am drinking fruit juices with sparkling water and I have switched to de-caff tea and coffee as I have read they can cause or worsen anxiety.

Day two done and dusted and I didn't have one single craving - unbelieveable for me!!!!

Off to bed shortly as I will no doubt be up in the night with DS again plus since it's my birthday tomorrow I owe myself an early night

                        Great stuff Mauri!

I like this post, because it puts it so simply for me. If we can get through the first day/first couple of days, we can get through anything! Of course, we face different and many sorts of challenges later, but taking this first leap and following through, is heroic in my opinion.

Many Congratulations Mauri - you are sounding so positive! Keep it up! It must have felt so good to know you were sober to be dealing with your DS, that is so much easier - and well done for not using it all as an excuse to let your guard down...:wd::wd::wd:

G bloke thanks I found yesterday so easy but I am not being complacent, I know there will be many challenges ahead!

SL I don't want to be beaten by AL this time, I am looking upon it as a challenge - can I cope without resorting to AL - YES I CAN!!!

My darling son woke me up this morning at 4.55am oh joy, at least I am not hungover though so I have that to be grateful for, got lots of nice birthday presents and cards including some lovely swarovski perfume and an egyptian style bangle and my fave lindor chocs.

No plans for the day other than AA this evening, DS is still not well so don't think we will be able to go anywhere, DH has the day off though so at least I will have company.

I've been watching your journey with interest. Congratulations on your day 2. I was fascinated by your technique but know I could never have done that. It must have taken great strength to stop at your allowance each day. :goodjob: Have a lovely sober birthday.
