    OIOOS 90 day challenge

Oops I am out of shape...

Hello everyone, so it’s exactly 90 days until Christmas and I would like to get into the best shape of my life by the end of the year. Giving up Alcohol has blessed me with a lot of extra free time and extra money to spend on fitness. I really want to partner up on this with other MWO members as it is great for motivation. Slay you are the first person that comes to mind, everyone else let me know, we can do this together.

I am 6'1" and I currently weight 187lb or around 85kg, my waist is 36 inches. So my goal is simple, to drop down to 175lb or 80kg and lose 2 inches in waste. I have read that some propose to keep it simple and just focus on recovery, however, many feel bored or lonely and fitness can fill that time that would otherwise be wasted combating AL.

Who is with me? Even if you have different goals for the next 90 days, write them down. PM me if you like.

I am trying so hard....Just got back from the gym....a one hour TRX class....hard stuff.
      My schedule:
Sunday: 2 hour walk with dog and friend in park
      Monday: 1 hour TRX class
      Tuesday: 1 hour spinning
Wednesday: 1 hour cardio interval class
Thursday: 1.15 hour hot yoga (102 degrees F)
      Friday: 1 hour spin
      Saturday: 1.15 hour hot yoga

Been doing this for three weeks and although I feel better, not much is happening in the weight department. Between that and my daily AA meetings, full time job and family to take care of, there is not a moment of down time!!!

Anyway, i am determined to keep at it so I am with you!!
Oh, and this week I start eating on JUST a salad plate, not a dinner plate...just ONE serving.
      I just won't anymore

Wow Jenni, I don’t think I'll be pushing myself that hard...Here is my plan

Sunday – Lifting Weights at home
Monday - Gym. 600 calories burn cycling, elliptical and steps.
          Tuesday –Running a Mile
Wednesday – Lifting Weights at home
          Thursday - Running a mile
Friday - Gym. 600 calories burn cycling, elliptical and steps.
          Saturday – Swimming

My MBR is 1950 calories a day so if I keep that exercise routine and eat around 2k in calories, that should create a deficit of around 3500 calories a week and result in a loss of one pound of weightevery week until my target is reached. around New Year!

BTW Jenni, you should be loosing weight like crazy. do you keep a food log? 3500 calories deficit results in 1 pound weight loss. It is science. I was advised to calculate my base metabolic rate and create a 500 calorie deficit per day. Give it a little more time.

Allan - you have this all thought out - fantastic!!! And I do believe jenniech is an all or nothin kind of gal...:H So my hat is off to you too!

When I read your first post, I thought your time frame and whatnot were screaming for P90X. I did two rounds of it about 3 years ago and loved it. I'm not an exercise class kind of person.

P90X - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It's a great program that uses DVD's, hand weights, and a pull up bar. That you do in your own home. Now I'm a 48 yr old female and at the time was in awful shape - and I even drank doing it - saved my calories for vodka. ugh. I wonder about the dramatic changes I'd get now?!?!

It does take a time commitment - as each workout is at least an hour long. But my plan is to start some of these DVD's again, now that I'm sober and kiddo is back in school and I have the time.

Hey Patrice - check into HIIT. High intensity interval training. You can get a great metabolism boosting workout in a short time.

Or this guy calls it peak 8. I've done this on the treadmill - probably to a lesser intensity - but walking for 5 minutes, running hard for 30 seconds then walking for 90 seconds...repeat 8 times then cool down. Done in 20 minutes.

Lola, the two programmes I really like are P90X and Insanity. They do require a lot of effort and commitment so I think I am going to lose the weight first and gain some level of fitness before trying them out. What I like about insanity is that it doesnt require any equipment.

I was considering insanity when I finished P90X but the preview that I saw looked like pretty high intensity...I worried about my joints. And then I have a younger cousin who runs marathons and is in great shape and she did some damage to her foot from doing insanity - so it scared me away. :-) You really don't need much for P90X - - if you decide to do it (and it's a great idea to get a little bit in shape before you start!) give me a holler and I'll give you any tips my husband and I figured out along the way. I also tracked my food at Livestrong.com. It lets you put your food in and if you have a heart rate monitor, it allows for calories burned as reported on that. :-)

and can you believe - even tracking how many calories are in numerous glasses of vodka - didn't make me stop drinking.....
