    again??

Here I sit in tears because I just ended a two week bender. I had gone almost six weeks alcohol free and I ruined it ;( I have the sweats and clamy and feel awful. i KNOW i can NEVER drink so why did I? My children deserve more, hell, I deserve more. Not only that, I had a complete hysterectomy in September and have been on rest. THIS SUCKS. I am at twelve hours with no alcohol. When will this discomfort end? PLEASE HELP.:upset:

    again??

yes, let's do it. That's what I did, drank all day and night for two weeks. enough is enough, but I want this discomfort to end. I am worried i messed up my insides after having the hysterectomy. I'm calling the dr. today and need to come clean with her.

Hi Struggles. Alcohol certainly is unwise after an op. but stop now and you should be ok. Drink water and try to rest, and it will gradually get better, the first 24 hours are the worst. You sound depressed, you should speak to your doctor, who will be able to help. Wishing you well.

        again??

Thank you, Paula. I am going on 16 hours with no alcohol. I am getting sweats and shaky an dizzy. I did so well and then it was one night I thought I could have a couple. It lasted on a non-stop binge. I am sipping cranberry seltzer and fighting the urge to go buy more beer ;(

Do fight the urge, keep drinking juice. If it is too bad could you get your doctor to prescribe a mild sedative ? keep strong.

            again??

            Hi Struggles,

I am so sorry you feel so awful. I know the feeling. I thought I was on a roller coaster that I'd never get off of. But I did, and you can too. Remember those six weeks and how great you felt? Now compare that to how horrible you feel right now. The choice seems simple, doesn't it? Of course, we know it's not that easy. You must focus on the BAD...remember that alcohol is NOT your friend...it never was, it tricked you! Don't give it any more of your time, energy or health. Get through the first few days and it will start to get easier, and yes, be honest with your doctor, he/she can help you. Stick close and let us know how you are ok?

              again??

I have an appt at 4:30 to see dr. My main concern is if I did any damage internally from the binge. My lower back aches really badly and down where I would have had the ovaries. I'm really scared.

                again??

                Hi Struggles,

Let me offer some hope. The lower back pain can be directly related to AL consumption. I learned this through my accupunturist, who is schooled in Chinese Medicine. The AL disrupts the strength of your "core" organs - kidneys - which then also affect the adrenals, leaving you tired and depleted. So your "core" muscles holding up your body, the lower back stabilizing the spine, also suffer.

Sounded a bit out there for me, but no joke, I was planning back surgery with my doctor one month ago. I'm AL free just one week now (so a newbie), but my lower back pain is much less.

So, please don't add the self-recrimination of your binge on your internals. :l:l

                      again??

Hi struggles, in 2005 I drank everyday and every night solidly for 4 months, no joke! Red wine, I tried one night in my own to come off it and was so I'll it was horrendous, to cut a long story short I ended up loosing my job, moving in with my parents and basically detoxing by going cold turkey, I had 3 days of hell, shaking, sweating, vomiting, anxious etc etc, since then I have had long bouts of no booze then binges which have lasted 2 days, while struggling against all this alcohol stuff ;0) but I have had a full health check recently and I am fit as a fiddle, the doctor said I have the working so of a 20 year old and I'm 38! So, my point it is don't worry about what damage you may have caused as this will add to your anxiety and cause you to drink so concentrate on recuperating, be kind to yourself, drink water, eat fruit and veg, take light exercise when your well enough and come over to the October Sober thread with us for support this month xxxxx

                        again??

I made 27 hours! yea! I had sweats and nausea, still kinda do, but so far okay.

I went to the dr. and she did an exam. I did not do any damage, but she warned me that my insides are still healing and no more drinking. The pain in my back radiating to my abdomen is a spasm in back muscle. She gave me some pain medication to take at night.

She knows my whole story and was a little disappointed in my relapse, but asked that I call her if I need anything. I go back next week to have another check on the recovery process from the surgery. I thought this was not a big deal, but apparently a full hysterectomy is pretty big...the took the ovaries as well as uterus and needed to do a repair on my belly button as i had an umbilical hernia and the intestine was pushing through. Hell, I had two kids and back on my feet in two weeks and this has been 5, so I thought i was good.

:thanks: to all of you for your support. Tomorrow is another day for me and it will be a sober one!

                          again??

                          Hi Struggles:
I agree with Paula, you sound quite anxious.A good talk with your Doctor is in order, she can probably prescribe something to make you feel less anxious. I think the back pain will go away and is not likely serious. Sometimes after surgery there is tension due to pain, this may be the cause of your back pain.
                          Take care,

                            again??

                            Hi Struggles!

I am so happy that you don't have any serious damage and the pain is just muscle spasms. You should take it easy and let your body heal. Good job on getting through 27 hours alcohol-free. The next couple of days will be the hardest, then it WILL get easier, I promise. I just want to tell you, never think you are alone in this. I honestly thought I could never stop drinking. I just couldn't imagine night after night with no beer. Now I can't imagine living that way. Please don't feel overwhelmed, take it day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute. I am also going to the doctor today, and I can happily report to her that I am 289 days sober, and 45 days smoke free. You CAN and will get there too! Stick close to us...we do understand.
