Thanks, Eloise! Yes, it does feel great to have my life back...to have control over substance vs. the other way around. What's changed? Experience, I guess. I've been through here at least four times since 2012 and made some decent progress only to eventually cave and end up back at the bottom. My record days is around 90. Even then I could not successfully return to a life of moderation. I tried a lot of tricks to reasonably moderate but good lord, the mental distraction that creates is insane. It's exhausting to be constantly bargaining with oneself. I'd get to the point where I would just have to give in to shut down the internal dialog.

Experience has now taught me that indeed, I do have a problem. Then, I started to become increasingly unhappy at home and with my marriage. The more evolved side of myself said, "hey, take care of the things in your control and then and only then, start working on the other details that are causing you unhappiness." So, I've started the journey to really work on myself and clean up my act for ME. I'm working on the introspection and self love right now. The more intentional process has been fascinating and incredibly rewarding. If we could bottle up sobriety and sell it, we'd all be millionaires over night! Seriously, I am finding such joy and peace in this process knowing now that there is no bargaining left to do. That ship has sailed.
