        Thanks for the hat Byrdie!!! And, congrats to Joemero, Caz, June and Wittsend! I see I am in excellent company.

        A few words . . . so hard to describe how I feel, happy, hopeful, confident, strong, peaceful, grateful, the list goes on.

        I drank for over 25 years, the last ten at two bottles of wine a day. I was so miserable I often cried every night before going to (or falling into) bed. I have had the desire to quit, but not the determination for years. I surfed many websites, read a lot of stories, and promised myself every morning that I was going to quit.

        And, then I came here. Wow, moderation - that's the ticket, I can do that!!! And off I went, had a great first week, moderated right down, then on the second week was making excuses and within the third week I was right back to my usual.

        What finally worked? Looking in the mirror on the fourth week after my failed moderation attempt and admitting to myself that I cannot control alcohol, that it was controlling and destroying me. I finally admitted to myself that I . could . not. drink. anymore!!!

        I picked my quit date, 07/01, continued to surf here and see all the people who were just like me and the helpful and compassionate soldiers (who also fought in the war) trying to bring us home from the battlefield. So, I was terribly wounded, you guys brought me to the triage tent and saved my life! Even though I'm still walking around in bandages, I'm here to help anyone here too that is in critical condition or just needs a fresh bandage.

        I'm here, I'm healing and taking it one day at a time, everyday. The face in the mirror is slimmer, not puffy and I can see my chin!

        Thank you MWO and all you wonderful, wonderful folks that make this such a special place to come to for comfort, understanding and the tools that people need to kick alcohol to the curb.
