    first step???

Hi all. Glad to have found this site. have been struggling a lot with this over the last few months and ready to do something about it (well... i say that, but i also have a beer in my hand) -
I've tried going 3 to 4 days AF - and have been successful, but i always feel like complete crap during the entire time. sleeping horribly, everything. i realize that is "detox" and i've read a lot about that. I usually have a breaking point where i say "i'll feel so much better if i just have a drink" (terrible eh?)

my question is - how helpful are the supplements? should i start my detox before ordering to see if i can do this? or is that setting myself up for failure??

and - looking at affordability - should i buck up and get it all? or is starting with only supplements okay? or first getting the hypnosis? trying to figure out the best way to begin and really appreciate advice from those who have tried it all.

I started the l-glutamine and kudzu and although I still have the shakes I feel overall pretty good on my day 2. Kudzu helps to reduce the amount i drink if i happen to drink at all. Depending on how much and how often you drink, alcohol withdrawals can be dangerous and should be monitored by a physician.

In terms of costs, you will end up saving more when you don't have to pay for alcohol anymore...

You can get all the supplements needed from a local vitamin shop. They will make the detox easier...as you are supplementing your body with what it needs.

I bought the cd's, for me personally they never helped. I ended up selling them to someone here at a huge discount. When it came to that kind of stuff.....I went for the relaxing type to soothe the system.....and they were free.

There is no need to wait to get started. I wish you the very best!

Get the book 'seven weeks to sobriety' by joan Larsen. You can establish what sort of drinker you are and therefore what supplements might help.

Hard to say whether to wait or not, I find supplements invaluable, never used the hypnosis from here but I am well into the holo sync program.

How heavy is your drinking? And for how long?

          thanks!

I so appreciate your help. I just got all the supplements from vitamin shop and am starting this weekend. my husband is leaving the country and i'll be taking care of the kids alone - probably not a good time to be kicking back a 6 pack every night.

i've been drinking daily for a few years. take breaks during pregnancy - then right back in it. we (me and my husband) drink for good times and bad - and all the times in-between. we both are trying to become more healthy, and are each others worst enemy. he'll be doing great and then i'll screw it up for him. and vice versa.

i drink beer mostly - good beer. big IPA's so really my 6 pack is more like a 12 pack. i just ordered the cd's and might call to cancel it and just try the supplements for a week. i greatly appreciate the advice and thoughts and support. more soon!
