HI- i 'M NEW
I joined today, and I really think that this is what I have been looking for! My story is long and sorted, but probably typical. Alcoholic, abusive parents (which I swore I would never be!) My dad died on my 13th bday from drinking.... teen years basic weekend binges, but no real thought to what was happening to me.....Until late teens-early 20s.... I started to question m habits a lot! Fortunately, I got pregnant and morning sickness took over any desire..... I did not drink again for close to 10 years... Occasionally, I would drink a beer, but reallly didn't like it.....Than a horrible divorce, out into the dating world after 14 years with one man...That is when it gradually started..Now I here I am... I have a tolerance of 9+drinks and I am isolating mself... I went through detox last year, and Iknow I physically felt better! It lasted 2 weeks when I gave into some deep desire for physical affection from an ex- whom (incidentally) helped get me started back drinking after my divorce. I kept on trying not to drink, went to AA regularly, and attributed my lack of willpower as little "slip-ups". AA is excellent support, and I learned alot. In fact, I would like to return! But I never could find a sponser to help me (believe me!!!I tried!!) and I found out that some things just aren't really talked about in AA. Anyways, I hope this is my final intervention of hope...it seems so real, from what I have seen.....Thanks already to all of you... Just reading your experiences are uplifting to me.... You will hear more from me for sure!Tags: None

HI- i 'M NEW
Hi ChildatHeart,
I've been spending alot of time here reading thru all the posts every night. That's the time of the day that I would normally drink if I got to bored and restless. Reading posts help me shift my thoughts away from wanting a drink. Because of the stories and advice, I'm choosing NOT to drink less and less.
Everyone here has honest, inspirational stories to tell. It's a great place to be with people who completely get what it is you are feeling and going through.
Welcome!
Julie

Child at heart
I'm also new here and can relate to what you're talking about... especially the part "after the divorce"... Mine was 6 years ago and I consistently found the comfort of the bottle to escape the pain of it all... while knowing that it was really making me feel even worse and more depressed, day after day.
I've also been to AA which I really enjoyed. I was there for only 6 weeks where I abstained completely but then started finding that little voice telling me I could moderate.
I look forward to getting to know you, and I think you're right... if we stick with this forum (the drink tracker is a great reason to check in every day) we will get there. Fabulous support with total honesty here.
DooDoo:heart: Sobriety - Keep it simple

CAH,
I am new also...starting day 4 AF. Keep coming in here. You sound just like me. Went through a divorce too. Then lost my fiance' last April in a car accident. Depression kept getting worse and I kept making it worse trying to drown it away. You can do this!!!!

CAH - glad you are here! I am also new to the MWO. I made the decision to get the supplements. I did a lot of research on and off this website. I really think they are on to something.. may want to consider. You can do this! Warm regards..Face your deficiencies and acknowledge them, but do not let them master you. Let them teach you patience, sweetness, insight.
