    Try for 10 days AF??

okay- today is day one. i just dropped off hubby for a 10 day trip out of the country. i have two little kids and starting today - i'm making a promise to myself, to my husband, to my kids and now to all of you - that during his trip i'm not going to drink. i'm waiting for my book to arrive and the cd's - i went to the vitamin shoppe and got a lot of the supplements recommended and started them two days ago. finished off about 8 beers last night helping hubby pack - i guess it was a last party before the beginning of my new life.

my hope is, since i'm worse than my husband, this 10 day kickstart will help so that when he comes back from his trip we can seriously tone down our drinking. 6 IPA's a night is way too much. i'm fat. i'm lazy. i sorta suck. i joined myfitnesspal awhile ago and was logging my food so that i'd drop a few pounds (okay 40) - it was very amazing that during the day i was WAY under my calories - then i blew myself out of the water from 5-10. hmmmm... wonder why i didn't lose any weight? after several months of this (yeah, i'm a slow learner) - i realized i don't need myfitnesspal - i need HELP. i need to change my life. we are moving in 6 months to a very active and healthy town and i want to enjoy the outdoors and all it has to offer with my family.

so - i'll be checking in daily - would love if anyone wants to play along to check in as well. it's going to be tough - i have a lot of friends that are wanting to help me while he's gone so that means a lot of dinners and social engagements. they are all very used to me drinking so hopefully i can simply say "not tonight" and leave it at that.

10 days. almost through day one. :-)

    Dangrog:

I'm going to try it w you! I just had 2 glasses of wine last night so back to day 1. The supplements have really helped me, though. My usual is usually1-2 bottles of wine. So I'm glad you got the supplements as well!!!

Be careful of alcohol withdrawals though...make sure w your physician that you can detox safety at home w or without meds. Lets do this!!!

Go Merlot! Go Merlot! Go Merlot!

Danrog and Alco - 10days AF, that seems a sensible goal. And even if that feels dauting we all know the one-day-at-a-time motto. All the very best guys.

          Rc, merlot, Byrdie:

Thank you. This past week of drinking a lot less, my liver feels healthier, my self confidence better, and I've been able to turn alcohol down easily. After dinner celebration for my husband, (where I had 2 glasses of wine), my friend came over to our house and stayed until midnight and continued to drink w my husband. I didn't have one drop at all. I just didn't want it. Normally I would have finished another bottle of wine w her!

Without MWO and the supplements, I don't think I could have done it.

All... thank you SO much for the motivation and support. I was a little nervous to have other things going on, but i think this time alone with allow me to soul search a little.
alcoholic - thank you for your story! it's very motivating and i KNOW we can do this! heading to dinner soon - and just found out two other families are coming, both who are big drinkers - so it will be interesting to see how they react to me not drinking.

i sealed my fate - and told the kids that while daddy was gone mommy is going to be healthy and eat more salads, exercise and have no beer or wine. my son said "alright... you promised... so that means not even one!" - i know my kids and i know he will hold me to it for sure.

and, having you all here watching me is going to help a lot. if i could just "sneak" a night, i probably would. but - i wouldn't be able to lie to all of you about it. so thanks in advance for keeping me honest! i'll check in later! tammie, alcoholic - lets do this! and merlot100 - thanks for the inspiration! you all rock!

                okay -
went to the dinner - was greeted at the door with a hug and a beer. (already opened for me and everything) - all... i couldn't believe the words as they came out of my mouth - but i said "oh that's so sweet, tonight i'm cruising - i bet our buddy over there will have it for me"

                and that was it.

i didn't even think about drinking, or focus on drinking, or obsess about it all night long.

i simply enjoyed myself and laughed a lot.

                it was the weirdest night!

day one - under my belt. tomorrow is day two. night night!

thanks stumpy - slept horrible, but i think that was combo of withdrawal and sleeping alone for the first time in a long time. actually had to pull a night light out. :-) i'm such a wuss. and i'm so itchy! arugh! hopefully the supplements help that pass quickly.

day two - woke up feeling pretty good. :-)

The supplements worked quickly for me. I really went from 1-2 bottles of wine to 0 in a matter of days. I never would have thought this was possible 1 week ago.

Give it time, but withdrawal symptoms may need medical attention based on much your baseline intake was... Just a reminder

Glad to hear you are doing well today!

Alcoholic - so stoked you did day one! now day two. I swear - the other times I stopped without any supplements, i was moody (ok... i was a major b$(@*) I yelled at my kids - I didn't like the person I was ... hence the ease to start up again.

last night was magic - i didn't even want a drink. today seems like a cake walk - have a buddy coming over who i haven't seen in ages, she doesn't drink and is joining us for dinner. i say day two will be a slam dunk! i'll check in later! have a great day alcoholic! we can do this!
