Busy mum needing help
As a first time user of a forum, I am not sure how they work. I would just like to know how other people have successfully given up alcohol. I am a mum of three beautiful girls and find myself drinking every night and more on weekends. I am really wanting to stop as I don't think I am setting a good example to my girls and my patience with them is not good when hungover. Any other mums out there?Tags: None

Busy mum needing help
Towers:
lots of moms out here!!!
Welcome!
I've been here 2 weeks and the best advice I would give you is, move around to different sites and thread and read different stories everywhere. Park yourself somewhere you feel most comfortable. You will get a lot of support and encouragement and many opinions. Some use meds and some supplements and some willpower alone. See what will work for YOU.
My experience so far so that I've done we'll w kudzu and l glutamine available at vitamin shoppe and at this website. Others have done well on baclofen, topamax, etched, and some withAA, MWo, exercise, diet, or all of the above. So cruise around.
Hope you are successful at reaching your goal!
I have an 11 year old son who is screaming downstairs right now about some video game failure....Luckily his dad who is a video guru is able to rush to his side to rescue him... *sigh*. The sometime joy of motherhood!!!Alcoholic (or Ally)

Busy mum needing help
Hi towers, I too am a busy mum of two lovely kids. But I know also that child rearing is relentless! Many good parts but some tedious right? ;0)
I'm the same turn to drink to relieve stress and then drink too much.
Try reading Robertas book my way out, I use kudzu, lglutamine which help cravings, carrot juice and grapes also help, as does chocolate ;0)
Can you find a new hobbie? Exercise maybe? I know it's not easy with children at home.

Busy mum needing help
Hi Towers,
Welcome. I'm a mom too. It wasn't until I became a mom that I had a problem with drinking so I understand, and there are so many moms here. For me, it was that it seemed like time was passing so slow watching little ones and I had a sense of boredom I guess. It's easier now that they are older but I had, and now have again a career that keeps me focused but then there is guilt, but so much love. I gave it up for a month and it was fantastic. I would read the book, order the cd's, supplements, everythiing. I'm in the process of getting myself back on track. I know you can if you've found yourself over here and have the courage to join the group.
