    ODAT Monday Oct 29th

    AF today odat ;0)
I've been doing October sober but not sure where everyone went. Unfortunately I fell one day so not 30 days but still feeling very confident, ran the great south run in Portsmouth uk yesterday and my bloody legs are killing me :0) raised lots of money for cancer research so feeling pleased with myself.
Today I am happy to be AF, and am thinking of how blessed I am.
Sending big hugs to anyone caught in the us hurricane.
    Xx

      ODAT Monday Oct 29th

      Hi Everyone!

Stressd and Roadrunner, Welcome to MWO!

There's lots of good info on this site...I like to read things in the Tool Box thread, located in the Abstainers section, for good motivating ideas, and I also enjoyed Roberta Jewell's book, which can be downloaded or ordered from this website. It is not exactly an easy journey, but as you've already discovered, the rewards of the clarity of mind from being alcohol free are wonderful.

K9, I had to giggle too, at your poor friend who got a sprained ankle from having her blood drawn...poor woman!

Mootsbill, good for you for running, hope your legs feel better soon.

And, I too send warm feelings towards people enduring Hurricane Sandy at the moment. It's almost Tuesday, so Happy Tuesday, everyone! FFP

I mean seriously...who goes in to get their blood drawn and comes out on crutches??? I'd hate to think what would happen if she had a cavity filled! LOL

                  ODAT Monday Oct 29th

I'm up again after having tried to sleep. An extraordinarily strong gust (probably in the 60+mph range) shook the windows and I looked out just in time to see a transformer blow up across the river. The condo complex there lost power, and the utilities aren't going to even start working on the lines until the winds are under 40 MPH for an hour long stretch! Ours flickered but thankfully came back. It's messing with my cable, though, as my cable box is displaying an ever-changing set of numbers/letters and won't turn on! About 1/2 the state of CT is without power, so I'm considering myself lucky.

Thanks to my friend that explained where to find this thread. You know who you are, :thanks:

For those of you that don't know me, I've been modding, after ending a 100+ day streak of abstinence. Wasn't in the plan to drink today, so I'm not going to! That's my choice.

I made it (well 50 minutes left) through Sandy with my latest string of AF days intact. Was SERIOUSLY tempted to drink during the storm, and never realized that I used storms as an excuse to get hammered in the past. Also was surprised at how strong the urge was. But I just took my Kudzu and L-Glut, and let it pass. Didn't even have to get out the Naltrexone, which I thought about doing but it's been so long since I've been off it that I didn't want to get back into it again.

LOL...it also has a rather unfortunate side effect, and I was hoping to fool around after we got the twins down regardless of whether or not the power was on or off!

I'm curious, do we have a new ODAT thread every day?
Well the 1st are the hardest days don't you worry anymore.

D that sounds bloody scary! I'm so glad it's passing over you now and great job for hanging in there and not buckling. I'll bet the little ones just slept though it too did they?

Wow, scary...I'm glad you are safe.

D from ct: I always thought naltrexone needed to be taken everyday for it to reduce cravings. Does it work right away in just 1 hr as some have found?
