Hi AJ, I know exactly where you are (as does a lot of other people here). Something huge happens in your life due to the abuse of alcohol and you know that you MUST stop now however there is that lingering Alcoholic that does not "really" want to stop but knows that you should. Been there, done that my fair share of times. Lets see, after cheating on my husband, getting naked at a party, waking up in the morning with the biggest bruise on my ass, hardly able to walk and having no clue how it got there, losing my job because I was so drunk the next morning that I ignored my alarm and slept through most of the day (twice might I add)...Yup been there done that. It took years of this abuse to myself (and others) that something finally clicked in my head and I was like ok so what part of any of that is fun or worth it. Just take it one day at a time and take the time to read around here. It was a total game changer for me. This forum quite literally is a life saver and the people here are amazing!!!
As for the tapering, I'm sorry but I cannot advise on that because that is something I have never been successful at because I can never have just one or two...it's always half a gallon of vodka for me!
I wish you luck and we are all here for you when you need a shoulder or an ear!
