First thank you all for the congrats,while I,m crap at speeches I thought I might share my thoughts on my first AF month in almost 30 years for the benefit of newbies like myself so(deep breath)here goes.
Its hard,if it was easy there would be no alcoholics so prepare for bad moods, tantrums, feeling lousy, cravings and annoying people but it will pass and you will feel better than you have done for years.I spent a good few nights at home wishing I had beer but I never woke up the following morning wishing I had drank.Support is very important,I was lucky to have the support of a wonderful caring (and forgiving)wife but the help I received here was equally important, from the sage and wise advice from more senior members like Birdie and K9 to encouragement from newer guys like Kuya and Alfonso (Mick):H.Many nights when at home craving a beer I came on here and read and reread other peoples stories and it all helped.Finally dont let a little bit of success go to your head,after about 3 weeks I had a visit from Dick(head) telling me it was easy to quit,you can control it ,just have a couple you'll be fine, ah go on you know you want to .DONT LISTEN.I have read too many people coming on regretting listening to the voice.I,m not kidding myself I,m out of the woods yet but I have found a path and some guides to show me the way out. :thanks:
