Did You Miss Your Sobriety Congratulations?

I think I've read here & there a few people have had 30, 60, 90, etc Sobriety Milestones. I know some people may be shy, may not want to toot their own horn. Please do come forward so we can toot it for you!!!... We'd love to start a Congratulations thread in your honor. That includes those who've accomplished personal bests!!!. We can even start these under General Forum. All should be recognized & not be left out!!!!.

Did You Miss Your Sobriety Congratulations?

Wildflowers - in my 1st year of sobriety someone kindly started a congratulations thread for me every single month for each milestone and it meant the world to me to see it in black and white. Not only did this make me feel a sense of acheivement for each month I notched up but the encouragement every month was appreciated more than I can ever express.

I have always had my sobriety date on my profile as it made me accountable to myself and to the wonderful folks here who I could not have done without. :l

Every day AF is a victory and I agree we need to celebrate at every opportunity.

                    Apparently, I'm a Ding ~ Dong! :H

Aly ~ Alo has the correct idea, we need to make Individual ~ Special Congratulation Thread ~ Awards for people.

I'm off to go hunting now for something less flashy. By the way I'm a t-shirt, sweat shirt type of gal most the time, unless I'm going out, or people are coming over.

Yes, I will accept a Ding ~ Dong award, but only from the Clown Dr. :H

I feel the same way that it may help people to feel a sense of achievement, to help encourage them to keep going. It does keep getting better!

I too could not have made it this far with out the love, support, advice, help, friendship I've found here Chillgirl!!!... By the way it's nice to meet you!

I think it's important to show our sobriety dates not only for ourselves in a good pride sorta of way, but to show others its possible. :-)

I think it's very important to celebrate being AF just for today to. I can so vividly remember how hard it was to just get one AF day, then two, maybe three. Then bust, start over again, never thinking I could ever do it!... Sigh..... I repeated this so ~ so many times. I'd give up. But, never really gave up. Then I'd lurk ~ read here, see the sobriety dates & it helped. :-)

Yeah Pixie, I had read a few places here & there & saw people saying that they'd reached milestones, or like Chillgirl was saying even just to celebrate a day can be huge in the beginning. Or for people coming back to!!!... There's no shame, in fact its quite normal for many of us. Not everyone, but probably the majority. It's great to have the ODAAT now too.

Plus like your saying some don't have time to post regularly, or for whatever reasons, maybe don't want to join a home thread, etc. Now hopefully they can be recognized & we can all celebrate their successes together. We don't want people to feel left out!!!.. I think most of us in life have felt this way & it can hurt! It may also just be that some are shy & don't say anything. Just thought it might be good to have a place to shout it out. :h
