    Helllooooo

Hi everyone, just trying to get a little help, I'm stuck in a rut currently drinking 2 full bottles of red wine sometimes 3 every day! I hide the drinking in the day from my partner but He is already horrified about the amount I drink at night!

I'm 26 and already I have bad skin ( I had to have a spider vein lasered ) I have blood shed eyes and I feel rotten every day, I exercise far too much to try and maintain a heathy weight but cannot lose weight, I'm pretty sure thi is to do with the wine

I know if I don't cut down I will soon suffer health problems as I had a fright this morning my faeces was black another liver problem sign

I have a 6 year old boy and want him to have a heathy mum any help, I do not wish to stop completely just be like a normal/ low drinker :-(

    Anastasia:

Do you have physical withdrawal symptoms if you don't drink for a few hours like shakes, sweats, anxiety? At 2-3 bottles a day, most likely you need some medical help to get off alcohol. I know you said you are hiding the amount from your husband but he already thinks you drink too much, could you just admit to him (not the amount, but just the fact) that you think you may have a problem w alcohol and want to a doctor's help to get off of it? Alcohol withdrawal can cause serious medical problems including seizures and death. I'm glad you found us,.

      Hi alcoholic
Ive admitted to him that I have a problem but and I've tricked him into thinking I've cut down by buying 3litre boxes of wine and throwing the box away, my partner doesn't know how much is in the box that way
Today I woke up after 3 bottles maybe more feeling dreadful, I had to go back to bed wen my partner left and I was so depressed I opened a can of lager o send me bak to sleep, that's when I went to the toilet and noticed the black poo (sorry) it scared me and I went on the internet got google it and I came across this website ;-)

I woke back up at 11am UK time and felt better so I went for a swim and now I'm sat here at 3pm uk time craving a glass of of wine

Anastasia: you are still young and if you can work on this problem now, your future can still be bright. But the black poo is a concern. You need to see your primary doctor anyway to have it checked out. Can you get in today? Some doctors are willing to give sedatives like libirium to detox at home, some aren't. Have you checked the supplements that others take? I take l -glutamine and kudza. They help w cravings. Look at the medication discussion section and arm yourself w some options, but I still think its a good idea to check w your doctor to have your kidneys and liver checked out as well... Good luck!

Thanks for the advice, unfortunately I'm not currently living in my home country at the moment so I cannot get to my doctor, also I want to remain anonymous as I have a child and they might think he is at danger living with a drinker,
I've decided today that I will try to cut right down cold turkey as I do not want to end up seriously ill or worse, I'm on my way to the supermarket going to stock up on alcohol free beers and wines and going to try and keep myself busy so I'm not thinking of drink all the time

Thank you your so kind really pleased I've found this site

Keeping busy is a great idea and keep posting on the site will also reduce drinking urges...

Let me first start by saying I applaud your desire to stop drinking. There certainly is nothing to be ashamed of. Some people just arent wired to be able to drink in moderation, and some are.

It seems as if you are ready to take the step. We have all been there, and know just how scary that possibility is. You might be thinking it is not possible, but I can promise you that it is possible.

Its going to be a battle, especially at first, but you can do it, if you really want it. Stick around here a lot, ask questions, and join in discussions. Everyone is here for you.

I know you have issues with getting to a doctor, but I highly recommend reading up on AL withdrawal, it can be a serious issue.

With that said, I wish you luck, strength and knowledge to beat this addiction.

can you go to the dr just about the black stool? that can be a sign of an internal bleed, and is very serious.

Hi Anastsasia, at my lowest point I was drinking 2 to 3 bottle of red wine a day, it's a heck of a lot, if your work it out that's 30 units a day which is more than the recommended amount for the week!
I had black stools, eventually I would sometimes not make it to the toilet things were that bad ;0( you are young and so is your son, if your start fighting this now you will be well for many years and your son will remember you as a sober mummy ;0)
As much as we would like to drink 'normally' if we are drinking high quantities everyday and hiding it from others we have to think that we are not, maybe even not able.
I think you should see a doctor, doesn't matter if it's not your country here in the uk you can see a gp whenever you need to. Don't worry about them getting involved with your son just say you are having a bad time and are aware it needs to be tackled.
I did cold turkey with the help of my parents, it was horrendous and I would have done anything to have had some medication, diazepam, lithium or such.
If you are cutting down, buy a small amount maybe 1 bottle, intersperse it with loads and loads of water.
                  Good luck honey x

                    1st night without

                    Hi everybody

So I did my 1st night AF, it wasn't as bad as I expected, I was a little irratable but I went out and bought some AF beer and I splashed out on some gorgeous juices ( more expensive than wine )
I was feeling a bit low like something was missing of course my friend the wine, but didn't have any in as my partner has thrown the lot out

Instead of blacking out at 8pm I stayed up to 11pm watched tv actually remembered what I watched then went to bed sober then the hell started

I couldn't sleep, drifting in and out of sleep must have woke 8 times maybe more! Nightmares and the night sweat was so awful I thought I'd peed the bed, now I cannot go to the toilet at all and my stomach has swollen up, however I'm picking myself up and I'm of to my body combat class, hoping for day 2 AF

                    Thanks again for your support

                    Ana

Well done! You've just proved that you can go a night without AL. And you remember shows and didnt black out......AWESOME!

You wont exactly feel tip top shape for a little bit. Your body was abused pretty good, and now its doing its best to get back a normal and healthy atmosphere. Just keep surfing that urge...fight it till its gone.

Before you know it, you will not only look better, but also feel better.

                      Keep it up tiger!

Soon we will be celebrating your first 7 days....its just around the corner

                        Hi

Just wrote you a long post and lost it!!

Basically just saying that it's great that you love your fitness classes. I'm an Instructor or ex Instructor that has recently just got back into being a participant in classes.

Start to notice how different an experience it is when you feel on top form and full on energy. I had been going to a step class and would 'limit' myself to one bottle of wine as I knew I had the class at 10 am the next day. Even though I managed the class, the difference to now is night and day. Instead of holding back my limited energy resources I can push myself to my limits and really go for it.

You'll also look much better and any excess weight will quickly melt away.

Just out of interest, does you excess weight hang around your middle? I call it my wine belly. Also if you google Liver Roll - your liver can either be a fat burning organ or a fat storing organ. If it's struggling it will work against you. I recommend milk thistle - I get mines from natures best (you're UK right?) and fish oil from Aliment Nutrition.

Hang on in there, also try kalms sleep tablet at night, will help a bit. It took 10 days for my sleep to settle down but it is soooo worth it.

                        Good luck and keep posting

Hi Emily thanks fir your message, I used to have a bottle a night of wine but the last year I've spiraled out of control I had a health scare yesterday made me think about my priorities, as or my weight it is more on my stomach than it used to be I'm 5 ft 5 nd 11stone and it takes 2-3 hours of exercise to stay this way, when I should be 10stone

Today I managed a 5k run under 30mins and I noticed that my face wasn't as red as it was if I'd been drinking also my eyes look a bit better, I'm hoping for my skin to clear up and I've still not been to the loo, I can't believe I've done this to myself, how long do you thinknit will be before I get a full nights sleep it must be 2 years since I slept through

                          Thank you again

You are on the right track for sure. May I suggest you break down your goals in smaller chunks. I usually suggest 1 day 7 days 14 days then 30 becasue day 7 is much closer to day 2 than day 30 is.

When you start hitting goals you get traction, just like on a diet....positive results will ensue .

You are doing great, keep it up, and keep busy and hydrated oh, and you've earned your first of what I know will be many........Nelz stars.

Keep comming back and keep us updated
