Hi there, thanks for the advice, I've made it through the afternoon I'd normally would have had 2 glasses of red wine by now on a bad day even more, instead I've been walking my dog :-)

Feeling a bit itchy now but not one to supermarket to much temptation, so you think if I try for 7 days I'd be more likely to stick with it, I worry about Christmas and new year plus I go away for a week soon these are going o be tough AF

    Thanks

    Ana

      Hi Anastasia

Yeah, I itched for around 4 days, just at night though but also not a good sign.

Go over the the newbies nest, they have a roll call, look at the last page, you keep a tally of your accumulating days, I'm on day 19 already, can't believe how quick it all added up. If you check back on my posts I've not found it all plain sailing but I'm determined to go to 30 days and see where I go from there (I'm just focusing on 30 days just now and not thinking beyond yet but I will hatch a plan at around 25 days)

Don't even think about X-mas and New Year just now.

just to add - you'll start to look better and better as each day passes. My skin was also a mess and is a lot better now. I'm hydrated, which makes a hell of a difference.

I've upped my training and looking forward to reaping the huge benefits of good nutrition, exercise and a balanced, calm, content mind!

Someone from the Newbies Nest said that one drink is too much and 100 not enough, which is me down to a tee, so when I feel the urge I just say to myself, - if I had one drink it would not be enough and will lead to one bottle, then two bottles, then that awful jangling feeling the next day and trying to recover. Just not worth it

          Hi there

Hope everybody is well, it's day 3 and I've been up since 6am been to gym and a bike ride, was a bit peed off as I've stopped drinking and made no eating changes and in 3 days I've put ON 4lb in weight ;-( I wonder if this is because I was so dehydrated before and now I'm drinking lots of water, before I would come home from the gym and open a can of lager, on a plus side I've been to toilet and everything is now normal ( not black )

Feel tired now which is a peek time I would have a glass of vino to perk me up fighting urge

Congrats on your progress! Keep fighting those urges one at a time. There is so much to GAIN by stopping (health, relationships, sanity) and so much to lose by drinking (health, relationships, sanity). You are on the right track. It gets WAY easier with time.

              Hi all

Hope everybody's ok!! So its day 5 and a Friday night, normally in the last 5 days I would of consumed more than 10 bottles of wine I feel sick at the thought of my old self :-( but actually I've consumed a big FAT zero, and I feel amazing

Sooo I've been to the super market and I have bought 1 bottle of wine and 2 bottles of alcohol free wine and I'm hoping to either mod with these over the weekend as I have to admit I have a slight craving now or push it through and try to go AF

I'm wondering what to do! Anybody know, it's just I'm the type of person that if something's completely forbidden I WILL want it more ;-(

Ps forgot to mention the wine will b shared with my partner and when it's gone it's gone I do not need the supermarket again until next week :-D

                Hi, Ana:

I'm so glad to hear you doing so well!

In terms of modding, I'm pretty new to mwo too and my sense from most people here is that they don't have much success. But a few seem to do ok and there's a complete mod section w a test you can take to see if you are a good candidate for modding. Most would recommend that you go 30 days AF before attempting to mod.

Whatever you do, just have a plan ready. If you are the type that you cannot stop at 1, then you have to really think about this very hard.

Good luck w your decision! Keep us posted!

The decision to mod or abstain is certainly a personal choice. You have done such a wonderful job at abstaining, Id hate to see you "play with fire" again, at least this early.

We all get those urges, I still get them, but I have found that the more successful you are at fighting them...the easier they get to win.

I dont judge people for either moderating or abstaining and wish you luck in either choice.

Health, relationships, sanity improvements...some areas may not improve, such as a relationship and that's why this time around for me it is actually more difficult than the last go around. When you don't see the improvement after really working hard to do your part, it can be a trigger and discouraging. Sometimes, the previous drinking increased because of bad relationship or relationships and when they don't improve after you quit, you need to find a deeper motivation to keep you going and not give in again. With that said, a clearer head is always much better than living in a fog of escape that only leads to deeper problems. Just talking out loud today on second go around day 9 AF. It feels much tougher this time.
