Day One and onward: The Diary of a chronic Aussie Drinker

Marty so glad it's all going well. Maybe your girlfriend is adjusting to the new you too. Does she feel involved in your sobriety? I feel my husband is happy when I'm sober but as he is a drinker (not ott) and likes to socialise involving drink then we feel slightly separated. X

Day One and onward: The Diary of a chronic Aussie Drinker

Day 31 ? Evening gang day 31 and going strong!

I had my ?speech? today all went well, was a very good presentation and got some good feedback on it. Inspired people on IT security and kicked some arse!

I had a chat to my big boss today he informed me on some ?complaints? he had received about my work practice. Some clients and vendors have been saying I have been turn up looking ?under the weather? this got back to my big boss! I had no idea that after a big night then a shower there was any effect on my personal or physical appearance but obviously there was.

This was interesting to see just how much booze was hurting my work life, I am I am sure personal friends I met in the morning they were thinking the same thing.

The booze ruins you; you may not think people notice although I have had 3 x clients confirm this is my big big boss.

I didn?t worry about explaining things to boss I simply said sorry and it won?t happen again.

Get that f****en poison out of your body and get a new life!

Lets kick some major butt this week gang!

      I will never fail! Every.

      Cheers,

Martye, You are doing so well. Just love your posts. I think when one gives up the booze they are a different person and it is inevitable that their partners go through all kinds of emotions trying to live with this NEW person. Its not surprising when you think about it logically!! Keep up the good fun mate!!!

Congrats on day 31! And on the big speech. It's amazing how the drinking sometimes affects our worklife even when we are not aware of it. Thanks for sharing your story. It inspires me to stay AF.

                Day 32 ? booze free

Evening everyone, how is everyone on this amazing sober night?

Day 32 for me was good, lots of work and a kick arse crossfit workout. The weight is flying off!

I can?t make my smart recovery meeting tomorrow night, as I have a function. These functions are just a huge piss up! I am ok with it and I am not worried about there being booze around. Will be funny to have a chuckle at the not so sober people LOL

Lessons learned today is that you can do anything ?.. I mean anything you put your mind to.

Your brain is an amazing machine and with the right training there is no limit to what you can succeed in life. You just have to learn to train it with positivity and lots of it.

I re read some of my first weeks post today and can?t believe the change. I used to sit in the pub car park. Now I don?t even want to go to the pub, it makes no sense.

Anyone reading this that is ?new? to their quit attempt I can assure you things do get better.

I know I still have a long way on my journey to go although I am feeling strong and motivated!

I WILL NOT GIVE IN ? NO MATTER WHAT

                Cheers,
                Marty

                  Sober Martye...Superhero!

It's 4am and I've stumbled upon your journal, (this insomnia is for the birds.) I have to remember to keep up on this...I believe that you are keeping a tally of requests for your recorded song and dance? Add yet another my friend...

So happy you are also tallying up the days poison free! It really is an exuberant feeling to wake up every day full of life and energy. And I think it just gets better. Not that we don't have hiccups or trials and downright crappy days, we will. But we are so better equipped with clear minds and a toolbox full of helpful resources. My hat is off to you.:kudos:

Regarding your partner, I'm sure this is quite an adjustment. I'm assuming all she's known is 'pissed Martye?' She's probably got some issues of her own to sort through and nothing like getting sober to illuminate all the ill-gotten coping skills in a relationship! But I'm sure she will adapt and hopefully grow alongside of you. This could very well make you a stronger couple.

So very proud of you. You are an inspiration to many, many peeps on here. Wishing that all the good that you put out there comes right back at ya! :l

Now off to meditate...I will stop posting!!!

Day One and onward: The Diary of a chronic Aussie Drinker

                    Day 33 ? Booze Free

Evening gang, well checking in on day 33.

A rough day as I had functions all day, and they always includes booze. I struggled a bit tonight as everyone was drinking, had some famous sports people around and a good afternoon. Automatically reached for a beer ? didn?t open it and opted for water instead I notice I hold my water like I would a beer lol

I am only early in my quit attempt so I know there are going to be these struggles.

The thing is I put things in place that will help me not to drink. I was open to everyone there that I don?t drink; I also told some friends and my partner that I feel it would be a tough day so if they could keep an eye on their phone in case I phoned.

I have promised 5 people I will phone them before another drop of booze touches my lips. I feel by the time these 5 phone calls are done I will either be out of time to drink or just receive some positive reinforcement not to drink.

I did not have to use the phone calls tonight but felt comfort in the knowing I had a help line if I needed it. I suggest if you can put something like this in place.

I truly hope everyone one else is doing well and kicking butt!

I will not now and not EVER give in.

                    Cheers
                    Marty

What a great idea! To have friends as alcohol lifelines. I'm going to use this too.

Day 34 ? Booze Free --- Bring It!

Evening Gang, just checking in on day 34 booze free. Last few days I have felt a little ?down? not sure why guess just part of normal life. People have ups and downs.

Instead of reaching for the booze I just went with it and accepted it as a part of life!

I just got back from crossfit and am on a total high! What a amazing fitness program, great bunch of people, always different and always push myself beyond what I believe I can do. I relate that to drinking. I never felt I could truly stop drinking but 34 days in and I am still clean!

As you should know by now I am very open and honest. Well last year I had a sperm test and while it was ok it could be better. I did one 3 days ago and got the results today. My little swimmers are on fire. Such an improvement in sperm health with only 34 days off the booze.

My next battle is to give up the smokes. I think when I am 60 days clean and sober I will work on the smokes and truly get my health in order!

If I can remain booze free anyone can. I would easily drink 24+ beers a night every night. So from 168 beers ? 253 standard drinks ? $500 a week and 29,000 wasted calories. No wonder I am a ?little? chubby

I hope everyone is facing their demons head on and tell them where to go!

I will NEVER EVER give in. I will continue to kick arse!
                        Cheers,
                        Marty
