      Well done Martye!
Remember everyone started on day one and just kept adding, there is no trick, no secret, just keep saying 'no way is this drug taking any more of my life'.

You'll have up days and down days but never two bad days in a row. And remember that most cravings are hunger cos you are taking thousands less calories than when you were drinking. EAT and eat well.

Day One and onward: The Diary of a chronic Aussie Drinker

        Day 8!
Evening gang, day 8 and still no booze. Longest break in over 15 years. Things are looking good. I know it is only very early days although I now feel that things are possible.

I don?t just mean quitting drinking, I mean everything is possible! Learn to kite surf, rebuild my relationship with old friends, lose weight, get fit help others ?. The list goes on!

As for the weight loss I am hoping to start crossfit this week, so I will let you know how that goes.

I had breakfast with a new friend from my smart recovery group and that was great way to start the day.

The Naltrexone seems to being doing a good job. Another thing I notice is that my anti-depressants actually seem to be working, the doctor said there use will be very limited when I am pissed every night.

I truly hope everyone is kicking their goals butts and remaining booze free.

        Take care all!
If drinking is interfering with your work, you're probably a heavy drinker. If work is interfering with your drinking, you're probably an alcoholic.

Day One and onward: The Diary of a chronic Aussie Drinker

Hi Martye you are doing well, isn't it amazing what a difference 8 days can make? I'm on day 13 and feeling full of energy and positivity I have done long periods of AF before and yes you are right not all days are this great, and when youve been a drinker it's a hard habit to break. But all you can do is take each day as it comes and when we have a good one, bank it and think back when feeling weak.

                Day 9!
Evening gang, day 9 and still no booze. Longest break in over 15 years.

Day nine, clean! Was very tired today and slept a lot, maybe it is my body’s way of recovering?

One thing I am noticing is the world does not seem like such a hard place anymore. It is no longer me against the world it is me and the world working together to make it a better place. I am learning the triggers of my drinking and focus on different aspects instead of thinking about the booze.

I am starting cross fit this week. Again something I have always wanted to do but I would prefer to drink.

My anxiety is at an all-time low and the home life is already reaching new heights.

The thoughts of booze still haunt my mind almost every hour but I can now way up the benefits of being free vs drinking.

I truly hope everyone is kicking their goals butts and remaining booze free.

                Take care all!

Day One and onward: The Diary of a chronic Aussie Drinker

                      Day 10 –

Evening Gang! Day 10 and still booze free. Hard to believe.

I still have cravings but I have to say that so far every area of my life has improved. My depression, anxiety, family, friends, love life, work life. To wake up with a clear head and ready to tackle the day is an amazing feeling and one I think will get better day by day.

I did have some terrible cravings today but I am that head strong on my quit attempt that I just tell them to take a hike!

I find myself smiling for no reason at all and experience some amazing moments to pure joy, and some small moments of loss and grief.

It is a hard road but one I am committed to succeeding on.

I take my Naltrexone and goto a smart recovery meeting once per week. I also start with a psychologist next week. So things are looking up.

I can suggest surrounding yourself with a good network. Don’t be ashamed to tell your friends and family you are an alcoholic – I find 2 things happen – 1 they already knew you were and alcoholic and 2 they are more then will to help.

I truly hope everyone is smashing their goals and kicking addictions butt!

                      Cheers
                      Marty

Day One and onward: The Diary of a chronic Aussie Drinker

Day 11 ? still no booze!

Evening gang just updating my daily ?blog? Up to day 11 with no booze.

Had a very busy day with work today so it went by quick. I still find myself looking at my old drinking holes when I drive past and wanting to go in.

I actually had to do some shopping today. There is a bottle shop right next to wear I shop. I found myself in the front door before I realised I don?t drink anymore. Some habits will take a while to drink at least the staff members had a good laugh at my obvious confusion.

My wife is going overseas this coming Friday so my parents have offered I can staf at their house so I will take them up on this offer.

I start crossfit tomorrow and also have my smart recovery meeting in the evening so it should be a good day!

To anyone starting out on their journey I can tell you that every day gets better, I have no felt so much inner peace as I do right now. It is not a myth it is true.

I still have a long road ahead of me although I know I can make it.

I truly hope everyone is kicking their goals in the butt.

                        Cheers,
                        Marty

Day 12 – still no booze.

Evening team, just checking in one day 12 booze free. Today was a good day had my first crossfit session and even if I wanted to walk to the fridge I couldn’t as I can barely walk

I also had my smart recovery meeting tonight. I find them full of inspiration and encouragement and it keeps me strong!

I am concerned from tomorrow onward as my partner is going OS for the week, I would normally be excited by this as I could booze on whenever I wanted although I have to make sure I stay busy and off the booze!

I hope everyone is kicking their goals butts and are staying strong!
                            Marty!

Well done Martye, you are kicking it.

Just a thought that maybe the first couple of evenings your partner is away you should plan your evenings well so to beat any loneliness /boredom issues.
