Day One and onward: The Diary of a chronic Aussie Drinker

    Day 23 ? Booze free.

Another good day, felt good ate well did crossfit and spent some time with the family.

Still trying to find out who I am and what I enjoy. I have ?lost? a lot of friends as I don?t drink anymore. I do know they were not real friends to start with but the lack of company makes life hard.

I need a way to find new friends. I need like a friend finder for males in the Sydney area. The only one I can find is gaymatchmaker and that does not take my fancy

I only had one craving today whilst watching TV someone was having a beer and I thought that looked nice but then the craving went away as quick as it came. The Naltrexone is doing its job and so is my will power.

I am loving crossfit (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzD9BkXGJ1M[/video]]What is CrossFit? - YouTube) it is my new sport and I am going 6 days a week. After it I am wrecked but feel good I have done something and the weight is starting to fall off.

I will remain strong no matter what!

And I hope everyone is kicking their demons in the butt!

    Cheers,
    Marty!
If drinking is interfering with your work, you're probably a heavy drinker. If work is interfering with your drinking, you're probably an alcoholic.

        :H:H

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Well, sounds like you're keeping busy with cross fit, so there's a bit of company, though i suspect there's not much yapping. Things will fall into place. What about the smart recovery folks? A cuppa with those guys regularly? No booze.......

        Keep it going friend.

        Bravo on your AF time.

I have not read your full diary, but I think it's a fantastic idea and I'm gonna follow suit, hope you don't mind I'm on day 3 and cannot sleep, but my eyes are tired so I will read your full diary when I'm more alert. You are very inspiring and I appreciate your candor and humor! All the best today mate!

Day 24 – Booze free – kicking ARSE! (and HI hunysuckle)

I have never felt this good or happy in a long time. And I can put this all down to not putting poison into my body on a daily basis.

I was talking to a mate who I used to drink with he quit about 1 year ago, we laughed that we would go to the pub Friday night pay $150 to $200 to put poison in our body not remember anything that happened and wake up feeling like shit only to do the same again on Saturday night.

So $400 to not remember what happened and also poison our bodies, feeling more depressed and anxiety through the roof! Then having to go to the pub Sunday arvo just so we could feel a little better and deal with the day. When you look at it this way it just seems so stupid!

I am still doing my cross fit and am loving it. It is the hardest I have work myself in a long time and the weight is falling off so the self-esteem in my looks are going up as well.

Why oh why did I do this to myself for so long? I feel I have found a miracle pill for happiness. NO BOOZE!

I didn’t really notice any changes @ home so I ask my lady friend what she thought. She said I am a totally different person. I help around the house, I don’t argue (as much) and I am actually nice to be around.

I will not fail, I will not falter, I will remain alcohol free!

Everyone kick your demons in the butts!

                  Cheers,
                  Marty!

Day 25 – Still no booze – feeling gooood!

Evening team, just doing my check in on my one year journal of my discovery of life without booze, and what a great discovery it has been so far. Things already happening

                    I sleep better
I don’t need an afternoon nap
                    Depression is under control
Bi Polar is getting under control
                    Relationships are better
                    I am losing weight
                    Have a higher self-esteem
No longer have anxiety – none at all
                    Work life is getting better
I am saving at least $400 a week I would spend on booze
And that is just to name a few of the experiences I have witnessed – all amazing.

                    The negative
Social network has been reduced (although I am slowly building it again with none toxic people)
                    the slight shakes
                    That’s about it!

Did my cross fit again today I can slowly start to see some slight muscle growth and more fitness.

Next thing to tackle is my smoking, although I want to be about another month into my AF life until I do that.

I want falter and I wont fail! I will kick butt in this new life of mine

I pray everyone is kicking butt!
                    Cheers,
                    Marty the booze free monster
