Day One and onward: The Diary of a chronic Aussie Drinker

Marty you are so right, it is the power of the brain and one's belief.

I too believed that quitting would be easy, and it was. It is nearly six months and I haven't had a serious craving for it yet.

I believe quitting cigs is hard and it is. Hearing about people struggling is not helping :upset: I may stop posting for a bit to get that job done.

I quit alcohol for nine weeks before coming to MWO and it was only the first days that were hard.

I am a little annoyed that I left it so long to try, but at least I have that to share with others

    Keep on trucking, my friend

        Day 40!!!! Booze free!

Evening gang! Just checking in 40 days sober.

Had my smart recovery meeting tonight and as per usual it was extremely useful and motivating.

Only a short check in as I have some work to get through.

All I can say is cravings are in your mind! Attitude is everything. Train your brain the body will follow.

        I will never give in!

        My love to you all,
        Marty

          Day 41 … Booze free

Evening gang! Just checking in on day 41 booze free. Cant post long tonight as just finished crossfit so can’t really list my arms LOL

As I said train your brain and your body will follow. Part of this and becoming AF is exercise! Once exercise becomes a habit there is no way you want to ruin or your hard work with booze!

Keep strong and carry on everyone!

          Cheers
          Marty

            Day 42, booze free!

Gday gang, just checking in to say I am still sober!

What a boring day I had, did crossfit then spent most the time on the couch. This did bring on a few cravings. Boredom was often a trigger for me, easily fixed I will now plan something to do on days where there is nothing on!

I hope everyone is kicking arse!

            I will remain strong
            Cheers,
            Marty!

                Day 43 – booze free

Evening gang, just checking in 43 days booze free. This weekend was a little hard as I literally had nothing to do. Boredom would always be a reason to drink. So today I cleaned the house. Was not the best fun in the world but at least it took my mind off drinking.

Keep pushing everyone; I am witness that it does get better.

                EVERYTHING gets better.

                I will never give in.
                Cheers,
                Marty

Funny thing is Marty, as you get more sober time boredom is the least of your worries !

Now there are not enough hours in the day......I have not been bored for MONTHS.

There are weekends when I choose to do very little....but it IS by choice. The world is now my oyster and without booze so many options open up.

I swim a lot, walk, go to the beach and BBQ with family. I read and have started writing again. My daughter and I are taking up squash. Go out to parties, went to a wedding this weekend.

Before I just sat in front of the TV downing vodka

                        Day 44 – booze free!

Evening gang, just back from my crossfit workout and feeling fine!
Still clean and sober and 7kgs skinner

I believe anyone can quit the booze if they first decide 100% to quit the booze. There is no excuse, no reason, no situation that a person cant remain strong and say NO!

Quitting CAN be easy. It is all in your mind! Make your brain believe and you will follow, I cant stress this enough. I drank 24 beers per night for 15+ years and stopped cold turkey and am on day 44.

I prepared and I prepared well for my quit and I am having success.

I hope everyone is kicking butt?
                        I will NOT give in!

                        Cheers,
                        Marty

I stated yesterday that there was no reason, no excuse, and no situation where I would ever drink again!

Today I lost my job, I have no money saved and normally lived week to week. Not sure how to pay rent or my bills but what I do know is that I WILL NOT drink!
Keep strong everyone ? I better go do some job hunting

                            Cheers,

Marty. So sorry to hear about the job loss. It is a real blow when that happens. I'm sure you didn't see it coming, as I know you said you were doing so much better with your speeches and sales since you'd gone off AL.
You will sell yourself so much better in interviews now as well.....so maybe this is a good thing.......there is probably a better opportunity out there for you. My hubby went through the same thing about 5 years ago with a company he had started 25 years earlier......but in the end he was very unhappy.......it forced him to change things.....so he went back to starting his own company again.
I'm sure the next few days you will be spending productive time thinking through your options.
Stay close to MWO and let us know how you are doing.
