Day One and onward: The Diary of a chronic Aussie Drinker

65 days gang and going strong!

    Kick Arse!
If drinking is interfering with your work, you're probably a heavy drinker. If work is interfering with your drinking, you're probably an alcoholic.

      Wow, martye! :goodjob:

I'm new here and just read through this thread. Very inspiring!
I'm also bipolar; for me the trick was to manage both brain cooties and sobriety at the same time. I'm working with a great psychiatrist.
I've had one night's drinking in the last 13, on day 4 right now, and I agree it feels amazing.

Good luck on the job hunt and keep on kicking arse!

Day One and onward: The Diary of a chronic Aussie Drinker

Just checking in 76 days sober. I just got back from my smart recovery meeting. It was good.

What I learnt tonight is I have not had a drink in 76 days because I am stuburn not because I am dealing with the root cause so I am going to book in to see a shrink to start to work through some of the issues

I hope everyone is kicking arse!

            Marty!

Happy easter to all!! 85 days sober for me. Things are going well. I spent most of easter inside pubs with friends and family dinners and lunches was not even tempted to have a drink! The stuff smells like shit!

I hope everyone had a fantastic easter with their family and shared whatever faith they choose.

                Love you all!
                Marty

Congrats on your 85 days ! Looking forward to that. I am just 11 days AF. I really liked reading your story. Your right it smells like doo doo I use to drink hard liquor now when I think about it, the thing that comes to mind is the smell and I get too dry heaving.

Day One and onward: The Diary of a chronic Aussie Drinker

                    Leasons Learnt after 88 days:

Fun: during this process, ?I learned that I didn?t have to have a drink to have a good time.?

Memory: soon I found I could have a good time at parties. ?I could even remember them too!?

Extra Time: when my mind cleared (from the alcohol) ?I now had time in the evenings, when I could read and relax. It was like I added three or four hours to every day of my life.?

Productivity: with the added time ?I could do so much more. I was much more alert. My energy was much better and so was my concentration.?

Sleep: no longer drinking to knock myself out before bedtime, ?I slept better. I felt better.?

Physical: along with the higher energy level came an improved physical well being. ?I began to exercise.?

They are just a few of the millions of things I have learnt! I hope everyone is kicking arse!

Love you good AF friend Marty!

Day One and onward: The Diary of a chronic Aussie Drinker

92 days have passed since I have drank. Thanks everyone for their support.

It seems I have upset some people due to my sometimes rude and frank nature.

I will take a break from these forums as I never want to offend or upset anyone.

Everyone please keep kicking arse. You have been an inspiration and my rock! Thanks

                      Marty!

Day One and onward: The Diary of a chronic Aussie Drinker

Martye, I enjoyed reading this entire thread. I actually forgot who you were when I saw the other comment you made about the Antabuse. (It did ruffle my feathers). But I think you are clearly a valuable member of this team and I don't want you to stay away. Everyone has their way to try to stay sober. Sometimes we have to revise and revise and revise until we get it right. I tried quitting, moderating, AA, topamax, herbals, etc. I always seemed to change my mind, and decide to drink. My brother was killed in terrible accident in June because he was drunk. My life was in turmoil and I lost it.
We all have reasons to drink, and even better reasons to stay sober. I think I decided to take antabuse as insurance that I could not be tempted later to say fuck it.
You did hurt my feelings, because Antabuse is working for me in addition to so many other things.
That being said, I still appreciate what you have to offer the community and think you should stick around.
                        Day 1 again 11/5/19
                        Goal 1: 7 days :heartbeat:
                        Goal 2: 14 days :happy2:
                        Goal 3: 21 days :happy2:
11/27/19: messed up but back on track
12/14/19: bad doozy but back on track

                        One day at a time.

Don't take time out Marty! We all take different things from different places, and IMHO your 'place' has had, and I'm sure will continue to have, lots of 'stuff' we could benefit from!!!

I hope I see no evidence of a disappearing act!!!!

                            Hugs, Nicey.

                                Hi Martye,
If I have my math right, you should be on 101 days AF by today. Please know that your thread inspired me to start my own thread, though I could only think in terms of 30 days. Hope all is well with you and your "kicking arse" as you say.
