I haven't gotten my kit yet but decided to start detoxing before it came so i could again begin the Campral...I have bad shakes and nervousness today, kind of weird i think since it's been over 48 hours since i had a drink. Cant wait to get the cleaning detoxing vitamins and supplements, hopefully they will give me energy and relieve my symptoms. Any thoughts?

When the book comes you will also see that that the use of Bac to control AL cravings is not as weird as you might think. Roberta Jewll was a diligent researcher and she discovered that while testing the drug TOPAMAX at The university of Denver it he late 1990's, researchers discovered an unanticipated side effect: it curbed cravings in late stage alcoholics. Desite the drugs originally purpose- migraine relief, anti convulsants I believe- the makeup of the drug yielded this unexpected benefit!

So Bac is similar to this experience. I took the Topa because that was part of the original package here. There's a thread here as well for people using it. And I can assure you that despite its original purpose in life, Topa definitely helped me and many others on the atart of breaking free from the compulsion to keep drinking insanely.

I'm still on my journey but Topa gave me a huge push.

So before you discount it, pop over to the Bac Threads and The the Topa threads and just read other peoples experience.

PS: I think it took about 1-2 weeks for my packet to arrive but that was several years ago. When i Followed the program I did extremely well. When i went off the program ie stopped taking supps and the Topa, gave into my WTF mindset...well, I did terribly

Buggyp... I found what works for me and swear by it. Topamax. It's a migraine medicine, but it also reduces alcohol cravings. (It's in Roberta Jewel's book) I take 12.5mg in the AM and PM. Plus, I take ativan as needed. Ativan supposedly will control any alcohol withdrawal seizure, and it also calms your nerves. I used to only take it at night thinking it was only for sleep, but I've done well taking 1 - 2 during the day. Be care, it's addicting, but I'm only addicted to things that make me high, so I'm not worried! If it's possible, talk with your doctor.

Ativan will help with the shakes. Gotta see your doc!

Campral can be a great tool to help stop the madness. Great job on 48hrs. It's gonna be a few days to get over the detoxing but it'll be over soon and a long happy sober life is waiting for you. It's such a relief not to have that compulsion to drink anymore. Stay close to the boards and post often. I'll keep an eye out for you buggy. Together we can heal. This time 4 sure!

cheated

last night i had 1 strong drink, it didnt really taste that good but the shakes and headache were getting the best of me.....had no interest in having more. i was exhasuted after walking 3 miles at 3.7 mph and then doing heavy housework all day and the making dinner, was out by 9.30. that was great!!! today i feel pretty good..not hung over, but still can't wait for my kit to get here so that i wake up feeling great and i know that i am cleaning my body!!!
