    Hi all

    Newbie here :new:

Been reading the forums for a while and decided to create an account....there is some fab support and reading materials on here, thank you

a little about me...i am from the UK, finally decided enough is enough and I need to stop drinking...my usual is a bottle/bottle and a half of wine a night, more at the weekends...

I had 3 AF days last week, but slipped up over the weekend, and last night, so this is Day 1 for me...

We all have to start somewhere. We are all here to support you.

Whayt do you need help with?
If drinking is interfering with your work, you're probably a heavy drinker. If work is interfering with your drinking, you're probably an alcoholic.

        Hi all

Have you been to a doc? Or a meeting?

          Hi all

i have been to the doctor. she wasn't much help and basically just advised that i try to cut back and if it didn't work, go back and see her, which i will. is there any medication i should be asking for that helps?

            Hi all

There is a lot and some work for some and not others.

I take Naltrexone and dont drink although people still drink while taking Naltrexone using the sinclair method. There is also a drug called antiabuse, you take it in the morning and if you drink you will be terribly sick!

I take Naltrexone Vit B and valium to help wth the gravings. Maybe you need to find a betyter doctor? Have you considered AA or smat recovery or similar?

              Hi all

I have considered AA, but I don't think it is for me.

I am reading Kick the Drink easily, which I am finding helpful. I have also started taking more vitamins, and I am awaiting a delivery of Kudzu.

I think I will go back to the doctor and see what she can do to help, and if not then I will have to try another!

                Hi all

Remember Vit B is very important and the booze stripes it from us.

                    Hi all

Bella~ i am on day one again as well. I actually took the topamax and it worked for me and I started it again, but like Martye said, everyone is different.

I bought the L glutamine in powder form and it seems to help with those cravings, but for me it's all or nothing. i have to never have that first drink.

Stick around, the support is great.

                        Hi all

I'm the same. Doctor advised I cut down, just have 1 glass, but I can't do that. Once I start I cannot stop

                            Hi all

Baclofen took the compulsion to drink away for me. There are plenty of threads to give you info on it. Many have been able to stay sober for many years using this drug.

                              Hi all

this may sound like a really silly question but I have just been into the pharmacy but could only find B6 tablets, is that the same thing as regular B vitamins?!
