    Honeysuckle's Log book

Day 9: Been bedridden for 2 days with the worst flu ever. I have never felt so bad!!! So, I get up to a disaster zone, (2 days with no mum/ wife and the house is a wreck) and guess what I found? An empty wine bottle in the cupboard. I confronted my husband and he admits to it and so what..?

Anyway, I have not broken my 30 day bargain and day 9 is feelin good

My guitar bloke, I find your words always helpful, I use one a lot "but for me today is where it's at"

Mick, I am in Ankara, not very exotic unfortunately. I am originally a northern English lass, again not very exotic LOL!

              Hi Honey,

Last night my husband had 3 vodka martinis right in front of me. Vodka is my poison of choice, so I well know what you are facing with someone who drinks around you when you are trying to quit. I couldn't believe he did that, but abstaining made me feel stronger and re-affirmed my decision to quit.

Possibly your husband was very stressed out taking care of everything while you were sick and so felt he needed to drink. I can't remember if you said he was trying to quit AL also. I hope you are feeling better today. Being sick was a trigger for me. I told myself that the wine was 'coating my throat' and helping me not to cough. What a crock, right?
Well it's all right now. I've learned my lesson well. You see you can't please everyone, so you've got to please yourself.

Siren, mine too was the voddy! he was gonna do 30 days too, but not for addiction, but for fitness. I guess I didnt make things easy for him because I had a big go at him for not helping me while I was near death. Anyway, my problem is not his problem at the end of the day.

Siren, this may be crock too but I am sure AL kept more germs away killing germs and killing who knows what else inside me!

Oh Yes!! I used to tell myself that, too. All that AL in my blood was surely killing anything trying to make me sick!

                      Martye, I love your words@)

Today is day 10. Told everyone to get out, go to school, work whatever. Need a little 'me' time for a face mask and to clean the cess pit today. I am seriously having thoughts though. I keep thinking that I can go back to drinking in moderation but I know this isnt the case in reality, I know this because I read other people's stuff (Running's is really good about this topic). So, I really need help understanding how to deal with this part of the recovery because sooner or later, I am goin to convince myself that I can moderate. Not good! Please, any old timers who can share their wisdom???

DAY 10!!! You go girl - my Hero!

One of the most common questions people who try to quit drinking ask is whether they really have to stop forever. Can't they learn how to drink in moderation? Can they become social drinkers? Is it true that they can never have another drink?

The truth is there are some people who quit drinking for a period of time, perhaps even joined Alcoholics Anonymous, who later found that they could return to drinking moderately. Chances are, these drinkers may not have really been alcoholics in the first place, but merely alcohol abusers or binge drinkers.

I found by about day 20 these thoughts slowly start to melt away. You know in your heart of hearts you CAN NOT drink in moderation. It is your brain trying to trick you, tell is to F off Tell it enough times and it will lay off

                        How was your face mask?
