Well, anyone who knows me knows I am a medicine person. I strongly believe in topamax for cravings, and ativan for anxiety and crabbiness. Can you get to a doctor and get a prescription today?

My day 1 was not so long ago, just over a week. I calmed myself by taking a 5 minute break and just doing some deep breathing exercises. Go to the ladies' room, lock yourself in a stall, and just breathe deeply. try to relax your heart rate, too. Focus your thoughts on your family and why you are doing this. Think of all the moments you will be fully present for. Don't think of the past, just the future. Good thoughts are coming your way - just hang in there.

What Siren said is good also.

But if you do decide you need meds, the Topamax is actually a migraine medicine. You could just say you're getting migraines. And the Ativan is for short term anxiety, so you can just say work (or something) is really stressing you out right now, and you are just trying to get through the next couple of months.

Then it won't be a big issue, because no one would ever even think of the alcohol part.

I found Valerian root to be relaxing...it's an herb you can buy at the vitamin store.

And any of the medicinal teas you can find at the grocery store. Many have that root. Plus chamoline, rose hips...

I do have topamax that I bought from River but that was over 2 yrs ago Do you think I could still take it?
Also I just recently bought campral from there and took one this morning and about to take another.
I think I will get valdarian root and try it.

Hi Mya- I would not use the 2 year old Topamax, sorry! It has probably lost its potency, but I have also heard that some drugs can even become toxic when they get old. Wouldn't want to chance it. Good luck with the herbal teas and valerian. I also find that cutting back on caffeine is helpful.
