    new here.

    Hi there,

I'm new here. My boyfriend and I have been together for 3 years. I've always known he was a bit if s heavy drinker but I never thought too much of it. I don't drink at all so I always assumed I was over reacting.

The other night he broke down and told me he's been drinking a 60 every other day for almost a year. I had no idea. He never seems intoxicated and he functuons perfectly. He doesnt drive (he got pulled over slightly over the limit last year and we havent renewed his dl yet).

He has asked me for help. I've been making tons of calls and gotten little help. So here I am looking for some methods to help him break the cycle. He's trir do his own once but the pain and feeling like he was going to have a heart attack was toouch for him.

Hopefully we can find some answers here.

Manic...my best advice would be to ask him to come visit us, specifically the Newbie's Nest (link below). That's where to go if you don't know where to go. I wish I could say you could do this for him, but as an ALK myself, I can tell you that no amount of preaching you do is going to make him stop. It has to come from him...so put him on to us! We can help! There's not a story he could tell us that we haven't seen/done/thought about. This place saves lives, and I'm one of them! Send him on over!! All the best, Byrdie

Please have him contact us. My life has been saved here. It can be done. He has already started by asking for help. There is work to be done.

Good luck and thank you for reaching out on his behalf. I'm glad he has someone who cares about him.
