Sorry Cathy, my hubby got home and wanted to talk. Teenage boys eat you out of house and home! I remember those days. I'm very proud of you for stopping yourself tonight. I hope you and your husband have a great night. :l

Hi Cathy
I’m sorry I wasn’t around last night, I’ve only just read your posts. I just wanted to say that I really hope you don’t beat your self up too much about this, and please don’t think that giving in last night means that you can’t do it. You just need to pick yourself up and start again as soon as possible.
You were doing fantastically well for a couple of days there, but I think the problem was that you did this a little bit on the spur of the moment so you didn’t have time to make a proper plan for your trigger points. It sounds like having to get groceries on the way home was a perfect storm! You were probably very hungry, tired, cold, and then you walked into the one place you go every Friday where you buy the same things on autopilot . I would have thought it was a miracle if you walked out of there WITHOUT the 12 pack and the smokes under those circumstances!
Hang in there – tomorrow is another day! :hThere's two ways of looking at the holes in your shoes
You can dig the ventilation... or you can sing the blues
I didn't come this far to only come this far.

I agree completely with Glass Cathy. You need to make a plan. You normally buy your groceries on Friday after work, right? And that seems to be a trigger. So how can you change this up? Can your husband do the grocery shopping? How about your sons? Since you usually order or eat out on Fridays anyway, do you really have to shop then? Would it be possible for you to go grocery shopping first thing Saturday morning when the store first opens? Chances are you wouldn't be as tempted at that time. Would a different grocery store be an option? You need to get this figured out in advance.

Please keep going Cathy, you can do this. Everyone is right though, you need a plan, it's the only way any of us can do this! if you can't order your groceries on line you need to change the time you go - maybe early in the morning when your resolve is stronger? Or Saturday lunchtime? I've started doing mine at 8am in the morning before work because I can't trust myself not to buy wine & cigs if I go straight after work when I'm stressed and the excuses come so, so easily. Keep trying, you will get there. x

Cathy it seems that the grocery store is a huge trigger for you. Some of the stores around here deliver groceries to your house and some have a program where you order what you want online and then you go to the store at a predetermined time and pick up your bagged groceries. I think it's pretty cheap too; maybe $5 or so. How much do you spend on that 12-pack? If you cut out buying the 12-pack you've already paid for the preordered groceries.
You need to determine your triggers and come up with a plan to deal with them. We know the grocery store is one. And I'd guess that getting home from work is another. Any others?

Cathy, Please come back even if you are disappointed and embarrassed. Here for once is a group that understands what is going on and doesn't judge -- just wants to support and encourage you.
I'm thinking about you and hope you are ok.

Good morning friends I'm sorry for the delay but good news. I've been busy yay and not busy with alcohol. Thanks again gor the thoughtfulness caring and inspirations. I made my plan yesterday to get stuff done and I did and got to go to dinner with my husband and had a great dinner. We came home and watched a movie and I went to sleep at midnight. Couldn't believe I was up that late and sober. Yay!!
