    first time here

Hi Cathy and Bienvenue! I agree with what has been said, become familiar here, post often, make a plan, and let the bad AL go! I followed R.J.'s plan in the MWO book almost to the T, with the supplements, hypnotherapy, forum/community involvement, exercise, healthy diet, and topamax. I worked with my psychiatrist, told her about my plan; she prescribed the topa. I have had a very positive experience with the plan, the only setback I had was some side effects from the topa and anemia from going vegetarian..But hey, when I was sleeping because I didn't have enough red blood cell production I wasn't drinking so I'd say it was a success! Everyone here is really supportive and I really have found that though you have anonymity, you are able to discuss things to a personal level that gets to the root which really helps recovery. I have never felt comfortable enough with AA or NA for such intimacy or familiarity; and it is surprising how many people on MWO have similar experiences and suggestions for dealing with things in a positive manner. I hope you are able to set up a plan soon and I hope to see you back here soon so we can congratulate you on your growing days AF!

Then one day around my 6 month mark, he said to me "you've really quit drinking, haven't you??" That was a proud moment for me.
You will start feeling that pride too with each day you add to your sobriety. Life is so good sober, you will soon find that out for yourself!
This time round I didn't make a big todo about it cos the disappointment from my kids when I drank again the first quit was so painful and I needed to do this for myself .

I talk to them a little but am clear that nothing they do or don't do can MAKE me drink or NOT drink......it is my responsibility.

Cathy I was so busy yesterday that I could barely get online. But I'm relieved to see that you made it through Day 2! Do not follow any of your old routines when you get home from work today. Get busy. Exercise, clean house, go to the library, do something different! Get through this weekend and things will start to get easier. You're doing great!

Good morning everyone. And thank you all once again gor the wonderful support. Its Friday and my day 3. I'm already thinking of tonight after work. Instead of stopping for my 12 pack to go home and get sloshed I'm thinking maybe taking my hubby out to dinner. Although I'm not ready to actually talk or admit to him my problem for fear I will crack and the thought of him possibly frowning on me. Maybe if I immediately go to dinner and eat and fill my stomach I will be ok

Hopefully. If I can get the food in me it will deter wanting alcohol in me since I always drank on an empty dtomach

Thanks deb. So many restaurants near us and we haven't been to any. I usually get so trashed I have to call pizza delivery to bring food. And everyones so burned out on pizza thanks. I want to rebuild my relationship with him too. Due to my drinking its really caused some distance cause I'm usually drunk or passed out. I'm so tired of that vicious cycle

Instead of buying my 12pack at lunch and keeping it my car so I don't waste any valuable drinking time after work. I did something completely different and went to a local animal shelter to visit with all the sweet dogs up for adoption. It was awesome and never thought of beer once
