    Back again

How many times do I have to start on Day 1? i am sooooooo sick of trying. Last year I notched up about 40 days af whilst taking AB. Now I am back to daily drinking 1.5 bottles of wine. I have read somewhere on MWO that people who post regularily have a 70% higher success rate. So I am going to post more often and try yet again!! Thanks everyone. Hope you are all achieving your goals.

    Hey Boozer

Glad to see you back. Just keep on trying. I think most of us here had a lot of stops and starts.

For me it involves the antabuse and just not thinking of drinking. I find that it's better if I don't even go there in my mind. I know how quickly those thoughts can cascade into madness.

Hang in there and stick around!

Thanks AC. I have somehow got to turn the cravings. At times they are so,so strong and when they do subside come back at me again and again until I give in.I know i am just feeding the beast when this happens.:thanks:

I know you can do it!
If drinking is interfering with your work, you're probably a heavy drinker. If work is interfering with your drinking, you're probably an alcoholic.

I was living in a constant state of battling the compulsion to drink. It was HELL! I'd get some time...often months, AF but always there was that nagging desire to drink. It would weigh me down til I'd finally cave in and drink....until I took baclofen. Now I have the power to say no. It's such a relief to be able to finally feel normal and not spend all my energy fighting the bottle!
Sober since Sept. 24th 2012 This time 4 SURE!

Not sure of baclofen but I know alot of people on this board use it. Check out the "drugs" section. I use naltrexone, I dont know if it works or not as I dont drink.

Can I ask that you keep checking in so we can track your progress and help you along your journey?

as many as it takes ,is the short answer. But it is easier (obviously) if you can manage to not give in too much(or at all preferably). You know you want to quit, you know how hard it can be,you know if you give in you are going to try again,so the next time you are tempted remind yourself that if you do give in you are going to put yourself through the trauma of day one all over again. If you are determined to drink no-one can stop you but equally if you are really determined not to, then hard as it is at the start(it gets easier trust me)nothing can stand in your way.I never believed I would be where I am now 3 months ago.But the time came when I wanted to be sober more than I wanted to be drunk.

Thanks Patrick and Matrye, I will check in each day. I didn,t drink yesterday and it wasn,t that hard.Silly as it seems, Day 1 is never that hard for me. Probably because I am to sick with a raging hangover Day 2 today. My problem is allways about day 4 or 5. Especially if its a Frid. Catch you later. About to head to work!!:thanks::thanks:

Keep checking in mate, I agree day 4 and 5 are hard. Start putting in plans right now so you keeo yourself busy. I found keeping a daily diary start at 7am wake up time to 11pm sleep time and slit it down per hour with what I would be doing. Stick to it and it stops your drinking!

It will only hammer you if you think it will.

"pink rabit" now try not to think about a pink rabbit. If you give yourself and your brain permission to know it is going to be hard then yes of course it will be.

Control that brain, it is such a powerful tool. Day 3 will be the easiest day in the world if you only let it be.

Control that brain of yours, try some mindfullness.
