    hello to everyone here

:new: hi everyone ive been reading this site for 3 weeks now and thought i would join u all in sharing one of the most difficult battles that that we all have to face addmitting to our selves that we are alcoholics and trying to control it and help our selves and our love ones to have a better future

ive been drinking for god knows how many yrs now and its time to sort it out .it all started for me when my father lay dieing nearly 7 yrs ago of cancer i just blanked it out with getting legless every night as it was the only way i could cope at the time, but i carried on and on and the drinking got worse, i just had to have that drink every night no matter what and it turned in to yrs
this morning i threw my last bottle of red down the sink and was determined to not drink tonight (which i have not )and up to now i have not had a craving or the urge to even have one
i have been cutting down over the past 3 weeks as i was becoming violent when i had a touch to much and i actually hit my beloved hubby which i can not even remember doing! that was the turning point for me,i really thought my life with him was over as i really hurt him
i also work in a shop which is also an off licence and walking out of there tonight was a great feeling having bought no wine to drink in to the wee hours and wake up with the bad head in the morning
ive just taken my supps (just in case )
anyway im so glad to be here along side everyone here as we are all fighting the same battle one way or another
    nice to meet u all
    have a pleasant night all

Hello seahorse, I live in Northamptonshire, and like you work in a shop which sells alcohol.. It does get easier as you go on.. Well done for pouring that wine away, sound as if you have what it takes..

                      hello to everyone here

Welcome Seahorse. Certainly sounds like you've got your act together - pouring those demons down the sink. It will only get better from here. I can tell you've got what it takes.

I only have one question - do we have an official tranlator for all this Brit talk? Sometimes it's a bit hard to follow.

                      But I love it!
                      :welcome:
Rest in Peace, Bear. We miss you.

                            hello to everyone here

                            Hi Seahorse,

Welcome to a great place !
I can totally relate to your father dying & you blotitng it out - I did also, my brother died aged 27, almost 3 years ago. I just drank & drank cause I couldn't face dealing with it. And like you it never got any better.
This place is great for support - something others don't always understand when you're giving up - I am finding myself on here more & more as the words people write are so inspiring. In fact my work is getting in the way of my reading !
Commendable on tipping way the wine, like others say I would have guzzled it & started after that.

                            xx

                              hello to everyone here

                              :welcome: SeaHorse

I too become violent and last week I hit my husband. It's what alcohol turns me into.....an evil person.

God on you for tipping the wine down the sink. I know the temptation is greater for you as your surrounded by alcohol at work, but as others have said you come across very positive, so I'm sure you will be able to knock this monster on the head.

                              All the best. x
