Hey, sorry to hear the slip. But it is only a slip. Now, can I suggest you do just one thing right now?

rednose, you have been absolutely fecking brilliant at recording your journey. Would you record also your slip? Whether there was a reason, whether it just seemed to come out of nowhere, whether there are other goings on in your life that may contribute to you just saying "fuck it, i'm having a drink"... or whether you don't actually know. Perhaps you were feeling something that day. Perhaps at the back of your head there was a tiny tiny voice saying "well done! SO many days AF - YOU DESERVE A DRINK... And write down all of what you felt and feel - be brutally honest.

Whatever it is ... write it down... record it... remember it...refer to it... it gets easier, but it is hard. We know that. And you don't have to write it here on a thread if you don't want to - I'm just suggesting you record it. For you.

Red ...sometimes the act of succeeding is soooo very scary, especially when you thought it was going to be harder.

Part of your mind says ' shit, I thought I was gonna FAIL, now I am SUCCEEDING.....I am NOT ready for this'

You were prepared for a worse battle.....now the truth that you CAN be free of this demon is as terrifying as the fear that you couldn't.

Been there, done that, last quit nine weeks.

            Don't worry mate. It's normal :l:l

Red, I'm with you. Give me your hand, girl, we'll haul ourselves back up and kick some ass.
Well it's all right now. I've learned my lesson well. You see you can't please everyone, so you've got to please yourself.

                    Slipped.

                    Hi Red,

Please take a look at the date I joined this site..Yes! That long ago...

Since then, I have been trying to quit drinking, many times I have failed but I have also had many times when I succeeded for a period of time..( never months and months though)
During this time I have also tried so hard to keep drinking
                    I've tried:

Bingeing = whenever I wanted and however much I wanted, morning beer, afternoon wine, evening vodka
Controlled Bingeing= where I got hammered just at weekends
Occasional Bingeing = Parties, funerals and weddings
Moderation = strictly within recommended guidelines ( my most recent test)

All of the above has been interspersed with periods of not drinking. I've kept a diary of how I have felt during these times and reading back is heartbreaking, I've wasted a lot of time trying to keep drinking and keep a life going too. In the end I couldn't do both, I had to make a choice. Life won.

You can do it, we can all do it before it does us.
Don't waste as much time as I did trying to disprove the theory that alcohol abuse is progressive and becomes more and more ghastly.

Powder that nose ( even if you are a man!) and start again

                    Warm wishes
                    Patrice

Hey Red .... you were fighting pretty hard last night while waiting for your flight .... I hope you made it out on schedule. Don't worry about starting another run of AF. You know you can do it and how good you felt. Now that you are back with your doggies and in your own home, get back to taking control again.
We're all waiting to hear from you and need to know that you're okay.
