Hopefully can find my way out!
I've known I've had a problem for a long time...but due to experience in time management and my ability to have an excuse to avoid confrontation, only a few other people know "how much/often" I drink. I suppose I just kept thinking that one of these days I'll just wake up and not want a beer. I was thinking about seeing a doctor, but was afraid that this will be on my medical record forever--gyads! I just want to be able to go out and have a couple drinks with friends, not crack a beer at 9 am just to get my brain feeling normal. Next thing you know I need a nap so that when the kids get home I'm relatively functional. I have to go pick them up today--so I won't crack a beer until after 4:30 today, and yes, I have anxiety like crazy because of it. I have watched the clock all day long, while hitting the Internet on holistic or self-help methods for alcohol cessation. Found that there are some prescription drugs out there that seem to stop or lessen the craving--that would be such a relief! Now I need to take the step and make an appointment with my doctor, has medications helped anyone else out there?Tags: None

Hopefully can find my way out!
The meds have helped a ton of people on here. Get yourself familiarized with the board, and you'll get a plethora of useful information. Some popular meds you'll read about on here are Naltrexone, Topamax, and Campral. These seem to be the most popular. There are a lot of suppliments that can help as well. Good job on taking the first step to controlling your drinking. :goodjob: :welcome:where does this go?

Hopefully can find my way out!
Welcome dhbgirls,
Glad you found us here. I was in your place that I didn't want that information on my record either with the doctor so I ordered what I needed online. There is a thread here that has a lot of great information on where and how to do that. Topamax, Campral etc...go there and take a look. I was also once in the position where I drank so much the night before I needed to drink in the am just to feel "normal" again. With the support of the people here and the supplements I am a new person and you can be too. Order and read the book or download it. I wish you the best of luck! Lots of moms here, I am one."Keep your eyes and heart focused on the end goal at all times, and never settle for less."

Hopefully can find my way out!
Hi and welcome! This program can also be done without prescription meds and just using the supplements and the CDs. Read the book and see what path you might want to take. You can do this!!!:welcome:I'm really easy to get along with once people learn to worship me

Hi dhbgirls;
Best advice I can give is to read to book. The supps have been great but you will find what works best for you. I was scared to death but finally did talk to my doc about Topa and she was great about it. Do go to the thread about Campral, Topa, etc. and read everything you can and this website. You will find support no matter what you choose and no judgements made. Welcome!!!Learning to live life on the outside of a bottle. :flower:
