My Chinchilla and Nature Photos
Pets are therapeutic. As some of you know I purchased a Chinchilla back on New Years Day. Of course I've been spoiling him and have been taking photos. He's so quick sometimes it's hard to get the shot. I thought I'd share some of them. I left some for Ringing Cedars after I first brought him home, but have added more. Animals can be adorable and leave you with a smile, so here you go.

Lucky guy...Thanks for sharing the pics...ok, now I'm gonna go keep looking for your posts to learn more about YOU. XOXO. Slay! What a cutie fuzz ball! Does she nip though? Do you think she would be a good pet for the twins? They want a guinea pig but i do not like those...your guy looks way better!

WOW! Thanks for all your comments and I'm glad you enjoyed my little stinker. I didn't expect this many responses.
Nelz, it was going to be Chubaka, but he really does CHEW EVERYTHING, so I just started calling him Chewy as it was easier. Squawky is perfect. lol
In light of his rascal like behavior, my mom nicknamed him 'Little Houdini Tyrant' as Chins are excellent escape artists and get into everything. It's like having a baby again and I've had to childproof everything and keep an eye on him. If I miss something, he certainly finds it. So, this isn't a pet you purchase without really understanding what you are getting into, but I love the little guy. He's bonding with me more and more everyday, but it takes time and patience. He's been a comfort to me through some rough weather. I buy and make him all kinds of toys and play areas. He needs lots of things to chew! All animals have their uniqueness that makes them interesting, and even Chins can very in their personalities and how much they will let you hold or pet them. They can live up to 20 years, are very intelligent, have long memories, are skiddish, so it takes time to tame them and for them to bond with you and if you stress them out, they don't forget. You have to earn their trust back. They aren't meant for children as they are fragile and squeezing can kill them. They have very tiny bones. They are social creatures and require exercise, so you have to pay attention to them everyday and let them run outside of their cage at least one to two hours. Mine is spoiled, though. I'm mentioning much of this to address you Kradle or anyone who thinks they may want to get one. Do the homework first. Chins are not at all like a Guinea pig or rabbit.
Kradle, as mentioned, Chins aren't for children and require special care. You may not like a Guinea Pig, but that may be a better pet to see how well your twins do with the responsibility or even a rabbit. (Although rabbits smell and Chins are pretty odorless.) They won't be able to just pick a Chin up and cuddle it. For young kids, it's not really a good pet. I have a lot of time to spend with him and my environment can be altered to accommodate his needs.
I'll leave you a couple links, but if you look up Chins and Children, you'll probably quickly decide it isn't the right pet at this time for them. You'll have to decide as you know your children, but you will be gaining responsibility with this pet...YOU mom! LOL!!!!!

The Chinchilla
Here is a video of a Chinchilla taking a dust bath in the wild. You can't get them wet. They bath in dust. That's what the green container was in the photos...his bathtub. lol

This site has some other videos you can watch. They are so cute. I almost bought another one for a mate, but they won't bond with you if you get two of them.
